I started doing it a month ago and it is incredible, it develops the way you express yourself and even improves the way you talk. Reading is like cardio and writting is like lifting weights.

I started a journal in the hospital after I came back from Vietnam in 1967. It helped me to identify and deal with my PTSD. I couldn't really talk to anyone about my experiences (they couldn't understand them) so writing about them was how I dealt with it.

That’s great. I hope you have people you are able to talk to about it now if you feel like it.

@@evedotcom Thanks. Things have gotten better and more people are starting to understand what the vets went through. It's just too bad that our country keeps on producing more and more veterans. That has to stop.

After 20+ years working in corporate America, I found myself with a medical mystery and jobless. I grieved my loss and I was very angry. Then one day I just started journaling. Whatever I felt or lesson I learned I wrote about it. Eventually it turned out I was creating poems left and right. Poems just flowed out. Never before would I have even imagined I could create like this. Journaling saved my life and I know if you can write, there’s only a right direction to go.

man... you are my insipiration. I'm 25 years old now, and I look back to when I was 15 years old seeing how that I've become the man I've always wanted to be. And no matter what I will always be chasing the next goal or step in my life because I know when I turn 35 I'm going to look back on when I was 25, and see that I've become even greater than the man I've wanted to be. Mr. McConaughey from the bottom of my heart I truly thank you for everything you've contributed to the world, and I wish you nothing but the best for you, your loved ones, and family. Much Love, James

This actually changed my life, I started writing and have began establishing lyrics for songs as I am a guitar player. Not only does it help me with my depression to get these things off my chest, but it has shown me that I am worth something sometimes and a reason to press on day after day. I now look forward to each days writing in an effort to collaborate my feelings and experiences, thanks matt..🙏

Inspiration comes in many ways. I never thought that I was a creative person, but I paid attention to my thoughts, and wrote them down and doodled. I kept having thoughts about painting. I had never painted before. So I listened to my intuition, and I bought paint brushes and acrylic paints. I didn't know what to paint, but one day out hiking, I came across a beautifully painted rock, it said 'You Matter'. So I decided to paint rocks, and leave them in beautiful places for people to find (I live in the uk Lake District). From there some months later I painted a friend an abstract tree on canvas for his birthday. And now 2 years later my heart and soul is filled with paintings, mainly trees, which I am able to sell. By going within and trusting the information that was given to me and acting on it, I now have found my passion, and my purpose. We all have hidden gifts, we just need to release them, and journaling, and writing things down is the place to start, to find out what those gifts are.

Wish I had journaled during my cancer treatment. At the time so many what ifs was running through my head I could not see past next week. I made it through all the tough treatments and surgery. I was beyond scared, looking back now wished I had written down the journey. Not to remember the hard times but to realize I was stronger than I thought. The day I found out I had cancer I called my friend and first words I said was "I can't do this". she replied yes you can. Said no I cant, and once again she said yes you can!!!. That was three years ago. Right now things are not so great for me personally but I am trying to have the faith to walk through this cause I know I am stronger than I think.

I bought mine when it came out, got mine the day before xmas. Didn't think I'd use it. Wrote my first entry on 12/27, then again the next night, then again. It's now 2/18 and I haven't missed a day in almost 2 months. It's surreal how therapeutic it is to write down things in your head like this. I wish I'd been doing this all these years. I'm not the 'journaling' type of guy at all, I felt a bit silly doing it at first but now it's like a medicine that I know is good for me.

Been journaling all my life. I’m same age as Matthew. Immediately watching this made me think of how much I’ve written of the same shit different year!! Now though the direction is changing and all sorts of emotions are surfacing... I write those down too. Half way through Matthew’s book... and realised that growing up he learned rules, respect, love, family... but that also he was able to individuate.. to become whole and that’s why I love him! I’m working on my individuation too and probably will for the rest of my life... but I feel more inspired now and excited to do things I’ve never done before. I want that adventure and stories to tell even if I’m 30 years late! 😊😊 x

Excellent advice. I've been journaling almost daily for many years. I love it. It really clarifies my concerns, dreams, priorities. I do it as part of a morning prayer, Bible reading, and journaling routine and it's a fantastic way to start my day. I do look back on past pages from time to time and it's a great reminder of the progress I've made on certain issues.

I’ve been journaling daily since 2020 and it has probably allowed for the biggest insight into who I really am and what gives me meaning in life. I would never have narrowed down my 2 core values ‘Creation’ and ‘communication’ if not for journaling. As a result, I discovered that front end web development is the career utilising those two values which pays well. After being lost post-graduation from studying music and as a songwriter, I needed work which facilitated these values solidly. Journaling lets you make sense not only of the world but of yourself.

@veekshavagmita61312 жыл бұрын
That was inspiring. Writing can feel like a daunting task, especially when you expect too much from yourself. Writing requires practice. Real practice. When you put words on paper every single day, you discover new shades of feelings, new ways of viewing life. You discover yourself in your writing. I’ve been writing religiously these days. Writing has become therapy. There are moments when my enthusiasm flags. Often, the words on the paper don’t meet my exacting standards. I feel like a deflated balloon. But then I start again. Writing is hard work. It’s intense; it’s demanding; it’s time-consuming. Perhaps it’s worth all the effort. This video has inspired me to keep at it. I’ll write, write and write. Thank you, Sir.

been writing lyrics ever since the age of 12, I look back at my rhymes when I was younger and realize how much more real I was in terms of speaking about my problems to the audience. My music has now turned more generic and into the trap genre but when you spoke about lookin back at the writing and realizing that I'm a bigger poet than I imagine is what really gave me goosebumps. I'm gonna write real life rhymes no matter how much it hurt's.

Journaling has connected me to my soul over the past few years. Ego tried to interfere with my pen to paper but my soul has learned how to prevail into those entries. Most insightful thing I have learned from journaling is that I cannot change yesterday nor can I predict tomorrow, I can only be present today. When I journal...I AM PRESENT!!

Journaling is responsible for all of the positive changes in my life. It keeps me clear-headed, focused, grateful, and grounded. There are two principles for effective/fruitful journaling. The first is being honest: using precise words, being vulnerable, and not sensationalizing or embellishing. The second is being succinct. Writing succinctly is analogous to writing with simplicity. Anything more than simplicity clouds thinking and judgment. The point of journaling is to gain perspective. You don't have to do it every day, just do it regularly (whatever that means for you). After a while, you won't recognize yourself. That is how much it can change you.

bro it is absolutely intimidating for the first few weeks or months, but if you keep writing, it gets better - as with everything. I filled 6 x200 pages a4 notebooks so far, and my writing is super tiny. Theres no better way to vent after a hard day or to clean your head than to write it all down - you have this cathartic feeling of "i dont need to think about it anymore, it's all down here, I can just go back to it whenever, now i can just chill"

I've written once every day, not missing a single one. I feel like there is something for me to find in my words today, that I cannot see right now. Only time will tell.

exactly .. i just commented the same thing .. i mean about women.. women journal... why .. because they plot and are devious and it helps sort out all their devious ways .. helps identify the really really good plots .. but men ... its all really just dull crap .. alot of thought fixing this .. or maybe fixing that or fishing a whole bunch of "i was at work thinking about going fishing ".. So I'm out fishing writing in my journal about how a love to fish .. makes zero sense ( this is a troll just for fun.. women don't journal just because their devious..most women in their teens think they write poetry .. but it's really just pro's .. if you can pretend to like it as a boy .. 2nd base all day .... if you really actually think her shit is deep .. and theirs a connection Good luck son here comes your first heart break seeya in 7 months)

It marks time. It marks how you thought, how you felt at the very moment you penned the words. I look back on some of the words I wrote when I was overseas, and I can almost feel what I was going through at the time. I had to be a stoic, but in my heart I felt fear. It’s really nothing more than a very private magical feeling to have that instant recall after so many years have passed. Just write and experience your own private magic.
