4:40:39 I think some stages are switched in other versions of the game. The ones I know the first 3 are all the same as here, but this one's the 4th on the GameBoy. I remember arguing with another kid in school that his MegaDrive version was wrong, because it had the dotwall-level as the 4th just like this one does. I'm not too sure anymore which was which though, but the levels were definitely in different orders in some ports in my memory.

Now I gotta play Blazing Lazers And yeah I agree it seems like it's very long because 9 stages, the final one being a boss rush is pretty long in shmup standards. That really affects it's replayability.

I always finish my Shmup marathons with Gradius V aka the coolest game ever made. It's like listening to Pink Floyd albums: You gotta finish it with Pulse aka the coolest live album ever made.

haven't played ragnarok, looks really lame for the most part, but i gotta say that one part in the first thor fight where he kills kratos and then revives him with mjölnir is pretty sick

Ragnarok is a huge improvement over the 2018 entry but it's definitely an iterative title. All of the fundamental issues are still there, but the story and combat are a lot more compelling. The RPG stuff is way less offensive too, they ditched the weird thing where parryable attacks become unparryable on overlevelled enemies and you can upgrade your starting armor all the way to endgame and it's perfectly viable. So you will probably like it marginally more at least lol

@@seanmcbay I'd consider having actual unique minibosses instead of the same two reskinned over and over again alone to be a huge improvement, and that's only one of the improvements. Like I said, it's an iterative title, it's fundamentally very similar and the core systems haven't been altered much but to claim it's entirely unchanged is just flat out wrong. There are a lot of little changes that add up imo.
