Matthew, I adore you. I am 64 years old and have breast cancer. I started woodworking 2.5 years ago to 1) learn something new and keep my mind sharp and 2) to find a way to manage my anxiety from my diagnosis. I started watching your videos 12-14 months ago and with your encouragement, got serious about making things. I entered my first craft fair this past October and sold $225 in 4 hours. It might as well been $1M, because it wasn’t the money. I was over the moon with the feedback I got from customers and vendors alike. It gave me more confidence to keep trying and improving my skills. And that confidence has given me a lot of mental strength to keep fighting cancer for another 3 years. (If I’m clean in another 3 years, I’ll be considered in the clear.) The medicine I take and the therapies I have, make my hands, feet, elbows and ankles stiff and swollen. I have brain fog some days and don’t dare go near my saw for safety’s sake. But the message I want you to hear is this. You inspire me to keep looking forward and learning. You inspire me to try and to experiment. All of that makes me excited to get up and go to my shop in the morning where I can forget about all the medical crap and have fun. Thank you so much! I wish I could hug you in person but for now, I’m sending you a big virtual hug and my sincerest gratitude. Keep making “how to” videos and giving us ideas. Yours are some of the best, if not THE best, on YT! I just bought 4 cedar pickets yesterday. I’ll be in my shop tomorrow giving your latest ideas a try! ❤️😘❤️

I really like the design and simplicity of these trees. The only drawback that I can see is that they are going to be difficult to store for the rest of the year. I would think making the trunk and base removable would make them a lot more desirable. This would make them capable of being stored flat in the off season.
@klashnacovak47 Жыл бұрын
Was thinking the same. If the “stem” was cut the same size as the tree and attached with bolts so it could be undone and moved up the back of the tree for storage and using a bolt for attaching the stem to feet.

you can use a hole saw, of different sizes, to put ornaments in. a little hole above the larger hole for the string/tree-hanger-hook so the ornament hangs a little bit.

I have several left over 5 foot cedar pickets. So I decided to make some of these. I cut them to 48 inches to make the taller trees and used 4 pickets. I made some of the shorter ones at 35 inches as well then used the remaining cut offs cut to 17 1/2 inches with two pickets to make some even shorter ones. Thinking of making some out of one picket for table toppers. I really enjoy your builds. Thanks for your videos.

These are great trees of all the wood tree types I believe these are my favorite, with very little waste at all. I have got to build these. Great gifts as well. Also I believe if you bored large hole in the body you could add a few ornaments for another look. Or drill small holes to a strand or two of Christmas tree twinkle light and accommodate the and cover the wire in the back by Cloth or ⅛ plywood or hard boad. Just a thought out of the box. By add these ideas you could add a lot more to the value.
