The song actually wasn't inspired by the Coronavirus pandemic at all. It was actually inspired by the old playstation 1 game "Parasite Eve" they started writing the song a little while before the coronavirus got so out of hand. They stated that the similarities with their lyrics to the things happening in the world were scary and it motivated them to finish this song in particular because they felt it was something they felt the world needed right now.

I love how it teases you. It doesn't always go where you expect it to, but it's a pleasant surprise! That breakdown is amazing! I love it so much! the "eh-eh Oh-Oh!" is just pure bliss for me. Along with the first post-chorus breakdown. The bass just makes me so happy! They bring it all together so well and it gets better every time I hear it! Edit: Forgot to mention that my favorite thing about it is how it plays with tension and suspense. The video helps push this, but even on its own, it does a perfect job at it! The second pre-chorus really pushes this. When he starts screaming a bit at "This is the moment you've been waiting for." It constantly evolves the whole time. Then when the chorus repeats, too, the speed increases, but keeps that momentum going. Sorry, I'm blabbing. I just love this so much! xD Thank you for the video!

I just found this song and have been listening to it non stop! This is one of the sickest songs they have done. You can definitely hear the changes from Ludens to this song. I honestly thing that Oli Sykes has been trying to get his voice back because he damaged it really badly. I think those talking verses are to give him a break to be honest. They were definitely more prominent in Ludens but that was done a while ago and he is STILL recovering I think. As a vocalist, I appreciate how he is taking it step by step and introducing more and more. It's like it's getting built back up. Anyway, this song is sick and I'm so glad everyone appreciates it.

I only really have two “complaints”, for lack of a better term, about this song. The breakdown was definitely good, but I feel like it had untapped potential in it. Oli decided to go with more of a higher-ranged yell on “this is a WAR”. I feel like if he went with a mid-range scream instead, it would’ve hit so much harder. I also feel like he tried to force the coronavirus concept in the lyrics a bit too much. It was a cool concept to write about for sure, it just didn’t feel natural in some areas. Overall though, the production is absolutely amazing, instrumentals were exactly what I hoped for, and Oli’s vocals shined as well. This is a very good song that I’ll have on repeat for awhile.
@MatthewRunaway4 жыл бұрын
I actually really agree with what you say! The breakdown felt like it was going to be crushing and it just wasn’t! And the COVID was a bit pushed in there!
@thelongestdongrod1904 жыл бұрын
The thing about the lyrics is that he wrote them before the covid outbreak happened, theres a series of vlogs they made that shows the production process of the song, and he definitely wrote the lyrics before the outbreak happened
@MatthewRunaway4 жыл бұрын
Oh true ok! Man he almost predicted what was going to happen in the world!
@MetsMania154 жыл бұрын
TheLongestDong Rod I was actually following that vlog series. It seemed like he started writing them in late February/early March when he was able to write in-person with the band, and then finished them during the pandemic when they had to switch to a remote songwriting process, because you see him writing lyrics on a tablet multiple times in that series while stuck at home. That’s probably where some of those kinda forced references came from, because he wanted to capture the time we were living in, which I respect the fuck out of.

I was surprised how much I liked this song. I typically listen to a lot of heavier stuff. Bands like Immolation, Anaal Nathrahk, Nails, and other stuff. If you're not familiar with those bands specifically, they're death metal, grindcore + a billion other things, and powerviolence (hardcore punk and grindcore's somehow even more pissed off baby) respectively. Anyway, I'm not averse to BMTH. In fact, I used to listen to them heavily back when Sempiternal came out. I haven't listened since then, and I wasn't a huge fan of their transition in sound. This was great though. I love the marriage of dirty electronic sounds with the guitars. Makes me want to dance and mosh at the same time. I'm with you on the breakdown, I was expecting a big drop, a la their old days, but the early 2000s rock riffing was still fun. This convinces me that I've gotta give that's the spirit and te amo a fair shot.

OMG some ppl make things up as they go along.. Jordan Fish is the mastermaind behind a lot of the songs produced by BMTH, yes Oli Sykes has his imput but the main man for production is Jordan Fish.. If you even bothered to follow and watch the whole production on FB which was released daily during the making of this piece then you would know this was done under total lockdown each in their own homes and linked via media. The whole piece was then put together and then the group met up at some point (Not sure it it was the USA or UK ) for the video shoot, and yes one member was in LA, but remember one thing this was a masterpiece run and put together by the brilliant Jordan Fish. Wyatt Stav, although i also follow and respect your opinion, with respect i believe AMO was crap (With 3 respectable songs) and i think you know it, its not the true BMTH, it was experimental.. they lost a lot of fans through that album. The only way after that shite is UP.
