I loved your explanation of underpaintings -- I learned about doing them a few years ago in an art class, and I've been doing them ever since. They can really influence the vibe of the painting! Wow i genuinely enjoyed this vlog so much! It felt like i was spending the day with a friend! I can see a lot of similarities in our lives at the moment and its kind of freaking me out a little lol. Maybe this is also a tmi but you asked, anyway I'm a first year at the university of Pretoria in South Africa but because of covid its all online so i'm home 24/7, I'm studying multimedia and i think it would be a course you'd possibly enjoy, we're learning animation, web design and game development ... we even made a comic for our final practical exam for one of our modules so it's very diverse, i definitely prefer the more creative aspects to the degree but i find the programming side also quite enjoyable because it stimulates the right side of my brain, it also widens your skill set is a lot more than doing a pure art/design degree since i wanted to keep my possibilities as open as possible. But it's a little amusing for me to see that your routine is somewhat similar to mine, like learning animation/studying while still trying to balance art, yesterday was the first day i actually went to go sit outside in the sun in i think like four days, i tried to learn how to play the piano two months ago in our winter holiday but i hardly have any extra time anymore, so it's nice to see you trying to learn the guitar, your skills have already improved so much in such a short period of time! It gave me a little hope and inspiration to continue learning piano as well :D Also thanks for the zumba idea! I used to love playing Just Dance so i think i might try this to be more active :) I really enjoyed the vlog so definitely don't stop please! (but also remember to take some deserved breaks so you don't become too stressed or burnout, health is more important than work i've found :) )

I remember going to art class on Saturdays and having to stay till 1/2am working on our school based assessment project. The project counts for 50% of our overall marks in the Hong Kong public exam. Not sure how it works in the states though. I remember we were all close and 1 of my classmates brought an electric hotpot. We ended up chipping in to buy all the ingredients and had hotpot for lunch and dinner. Good times. I didn’t continue making art though and I never got to learn that under coat that you talked about. Might try that when I get my hands on acrylic.

Hi Matt, I really enjoyed the video mostly because i got to see what its like to be have the job that you have which is like super cool and awesome that you have an opportunity to be a full time artist. So i liked the video and i encourage more videos formatted this way becuase that way you feel less stress and pressure. Not to mention that you just looked more happy in this video, and more excited than in more previous focused videos. I am kinda and artist, i do art for fun and i have been going more into depth now in quarantine. I mostly do watercolor and color pencil art works; however, i have been doing an acrylic painting that i don’t think is going so well anymore.
