YES someone who can make noise look good is a fantastic photographer to me👌 Everyone thinks I'm crazy every time I intentionally allow noise to be in my b&w photos
@gregorybissell42556 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't mind the noise from Fuji sensors, but when I shot Sony the noise seemed way more.... abrasive
@brian-beeler5 жыл бұрын
@@gregorybissell4255 It's the X-Trans sensor as the color array is meant to mimic silver halide and isn't the Bayer array everyone else but Phase One uses. To me ISO 1600 feels like Kodak Plus-X and Kodachrome and ISO 3200 Tri-x and Ilford HP5.
@JohnBarrow19618 жыл бұрын
I agree with your assessment, Mattias, the noise lends itself well to those types of shots, dare I say it adds a film-like quality to them. One thing I miss in my current camera lineup is a compact with a flip screen. It's tricky to get good candid street shots with the DSLR's a prefer to shoot, even the much smaller manual focus film bodies I prefer. Something about bringing the camera to your eye is dead giveaway for a lot of people. You took some real nice shots.

Love the series of videos about the Fuji gear. Hoping you can answer a question: On these Fuji cameras, can you shoot RAW+JPEG and still use film simulations? My intent would be to always capture a JPEG with a desired film simulation while also capturing a RAW (with no simulation) that I could process in Lr later.
@gearreallydoesntmatter8 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. You can also process a new jpeg in camera from the raw and change film simulation as well as add them in Lightroom. Lots of possibilities.
@videojesse8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response! That's great to hear. I know some cameras prevent you from using "effects" of that sort when shooting RAW+JPEG. Quick follow up: If I process a RAW file in camera as you mentioned, it saves a new JPEG. Does it also keep the original RAW for even further processing if desired?

Yes.

Hello! @ 2:15, are you talking about "zone" focusing? I thought zone focusing was a larger focus area ( 9 x 9 square vs 1 x 1 square focus point ). I didn't realize that zone was also in DOF? i.e. 2 - 3 meters in depth according to the video.
@gearreallydoesntmatter8 жыл бұрын
yes, but its more than that in reality. At f8 set to 3m a 18mm lens gives a depth of field of 1m to infinity. At f2.8 its about 2-6m. This is what zone focusing means and has been called so long before autofocus points where invented :)
@RayVillaraza8 жыл бұрын
Mattias Burling THANK YOU! So Zone Focusing in photography terms, not in Fuji Feature terms cuz the camera did come with "Zone" focusing but that's more the auto-focus points on the screen. WOW. SO COOL. Thanks so much Mattias!

This X70 would be superior with a view finder and a NP-W126 accu. This super camera needs no built in flash. Buy a seperate flash.
@gearreallydoesntmatter7 жыл бұрын
Jaco van Lith Nooo, flash must stay. No need for viewfinder. All it needs is snap. If it gets that or the GR gets a tilt screen. Then the ultimate street camera is born.

The Fuji X70 or Canon PowerShot G7x ?
@gearreallydoesntmatter8 жыл бұрын
Depends, do you need the zoom and can you live with a smaller sensor. They are very different.
@Hummerbydesign8 жыл бұрын
DruMeister want to out my two cents in. I own both and find that the G7 is terrific for videos due to zoom ability while filming, and being able to use the touch screen to focus which I discovered accidentally is useful to do pull focusing which looks great at the wide aperture! However the picture quality at JPEG mode anyways and the film simulation modes of the X70 both are visually discernible, particularity at modest ISO and up ( umm like ISO 800 and up ) I do have to say the canon is more pocketable and versatile but in terms of sheer enjoyment of camera/person interaction and thoughtful stills shooting, the Fuji is definitely the one. The Canon has a remarkable video capability which I do use frequently and it's video quality is excellent even at 720p. Although it does doe higher definition but the file sizes get out of hand for me at 1080p. So like all photography quandaries the answer is always 'it depends!' In this case it's video and all round versatility versus better picture quality, ISO performance and fun film simulation modes with nice old school dslr controls.

This Fujifilm X70 could be the present from Heaven with a few modifications. This camera is so good at 6400 ISO, that a built in flash is hardly ever needed. A built in flash consumes the power of the camera; that is a minor negative factor. Any flash in the (multi contacts) hotshoe would be better and more powerful; the best would be an extra PC-synchro. With a spiral cable the speedflash could be triggered off the camera. Many streetphotographers do. There is always the need for a viewfinder, although the screen of the X70 is very bright. All cameras need; even a Linhof Technika 13 x 18. A camera without a viewfinder is like a bicycle wtihout handlebars. It is possible to ride a bike without, but even Alex Rasmussen needs handlebars during the Tour the France. The pans in the kitchen have two handles. The Fujifilm X70 is the camera for all seasons. Architecture-, news-, candid-, street-, wedding-, photography. The X70 is the must for the 21 century and the best camera for photographers who once had a Leica Cl or a Leica M4. (And that is my pro experience since 1965).
@gearreallydoesntmatter7 жыл бұрын
Jaco van Lith The flash is one of the best features. It must stay.

Jaco van Lith I take alot of flash images. This is a pocket camera with a leaf shutter... flash is a must.
@jacovanlith50827 жыл бұрын
The shown images are no flash photographs. Please show in your next video the examples of flash photogrhy with the X 70. Leaf-, focal plane-, rotary shutter or even shutterless, on every camera a flash unit can be used. I do not understand, you indicate the fact of the leaf shutter of your favourite camera.. The FujifilmX 70 is no compact camera; it is a camera with small demension, but with the normal APS-C sensor. For wedding photography the X70 is the perfect tool. Easy to use, even nice to hand over to guests of the wedding, while I have a coffee break.
@gearreallydoesntmatter7 жыл бұрын
It is a compact camera. A flash + leaf shutter = magic and super fast sync speed. I have already made 3 videos about the X70 and there is flash photography in them.
