@@_SZNN I would over the Pro if you aren’t doing super heavy work loads with video sucks as RED or 6K stuff. Even with that being said 16gig would be fine if you stuck with the air. The only real differences between the pro and air in this lineup are the fans and Touch Bar. The Touch Bar is silly and the use of fans is almost not a thing if you arnt doing super heavy processing. Thanks for this video. I was panicking after my purchase (m3 air 8gb) as I stupidly went on forums and thought I'd made a huge mistake. Once I installed my software I ran a test with 64 serum and 64 kick2 instances (this far exceeds my real-world use) all simultaneously playing an 8 bar loop. It didnt even crack 7gb of ram usage and the m3 cpu just ate it up (cubase 14) without even thinking about it. Might be a different story for someone who runs lots of romplers or big multi-sample libraries, but for anyone who relies mainly on synths youre going to be fine with 8gb.

Hi, what’s your recommended usb hub. Any preference. Thanks!
@MattiasHolmgren3 жыл бұрын
Hi for the Apple M1 I do recommend grabbing the Belink Thunderbolt Dock Core(affiliate link): amzn.to/2SMNtoZ The reason is that this dock lets you charge your MacBookPro via the usb-c port on the Dock Core Hub. At the same time you can connect external display to it + Usb 3.0 gear. The reason I chose the Thunderbolt Dock Core hub, is because I need at least ONE free Thunderbolt port on the Macbook Pro 13" Apple M1 2020 to connect the UAD Apollo Twin X. I have some other hubs, but they don't support good USB 3.0 and usage of all these ports at the same time. So this hub is awesome! A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in this case. I'll post a review video of it sometime. Hope the info helps!
@accentontheoff3 жыл бұрын
@@MattiasHolmgren Hi great thanks. It looks like a beast. Will look it up further. Btw it’s not powered right? Does that become an issue esp when it comes to high end audio devices like the UAD etc.
@MattiasHolmgren3 жыл бұрын
My advice is to always hook the UAD Apollo device directly to one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports on the MacBook Pro. And use the Belkin Thunderbolt hub for all other connections: power, external display, usb-3 discs, etc. You can power this hub via external Mac charger, it also further charge your Mac with up to 60W!
@accentontheoff3 жыл бұрын
@@MattiasHolmgren My bad, so sorry, that’s what you meant. One port by itself always for the audio interface, which is the main device also. Guess that means that in the current MacBooks (with only two ports), everything else will have to go into the other port via usb hub.

If you are on a PC (x86) the RAM matters a lot so go for as much as you can afford. 16 GB is minimum. A laptop always behaves less performant than a desktop in my experience. Even though most orchestral libraries stream from disc these days you still need plenty of ram for all those multiple plugin instances etc. PC laptops can also be pretty noisy (fans), but I don't have any experience with the more recent pavilions...maybe check some reviews. LOL I'll be focusing on comparing performance between the M1 and M1 MAX, since, like you know, Intel isn't even close anymore. But I will probably throw in some intel comparison just because it's such a vast space between them. ,) What I can say for now, before any videos, is that I initially like the form factor of the original M1 before the M1 MAX 14". It has a brand new overall design and I've grown so accustomed to the light package of the 13" M1. Insane power in a small package. But M1 MAX will probably have a lot to compensate with regarding raw cpu power performance. The new keyboard is sleek and feels nice. The internal speakers of the M1 MAX does indeed sound much better than previous. FInally you can identify a little bit of bass. Loading projects and updating plugins (when installing new pluggs) in Logic is insanely fast on M1 MAX! ;)

Hi, connecting your studio monitors to the the XLR / TELE output of your audio interface should not effect MacBook Pro performance in any way. They only thing that would effect MacBook Pro is when you connect / disconnect the USB cable from the audio interface to the computer. Because the computer will handle the connection / disconnection of a new peripheral device. Connecting tele / xlr cables back n forth to the audio interface will not effect performance of the audio interface. So I can't really see what the root of your problem could be. And i can tell you it wont have any problems as long as your not doing like Mathias say symphony orhestra arrangments or super advanced trace maby with maby 50 tracks or so. The 2019 even have 4 cores on the cheapest model which we got here as we didnt need anything more. Super happy with the 2019, and as i said in other comment it have the ability to also run Win10 if a need should arise. Other than that, probably even better of with the newer M1. If it HAS to be a Mac that is. Im not really a Mac guy, but the hardware & some of the software is good.

@MattiasHolmgren3 жыл бұрын
Hi, 256 GB is def enough for the OS disc, if you run with external disc for your big sample libs. Personally I always go for the 512GB in my laptops so I can have stuff like Omnisphere etc on the main disc. So I don't need to bring extra external discs everywhere. I do have most other big sample libs (Heavyocity, East West, 8DIO etc.) on external discs though. But Omnisphere, Trilian, RMX stays on my system disc. 🌞

Nope, you can run many apps without issues. M1 have so fast memory swapping (between CPU and memory) that you wouldn't believe it. Since the memory sits on the CPU package (SoC). It's a totally different system than intel tech. ;)

I would suggest going for 512GB SSD & 8GB RAM. The 8GB RAM will take you very far. That said if you are really on a budget go for 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM, you an always extend the disc space with an external disc, but it's impossible to extend the internal memory. But as I said, I own the 8GB model and it's been totally enough this past year. And I do professional work in music, graphics, animation, videos, apps, games, web etc. Note: I just ordered the brand new 14" M1 Max with 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM which will ship in 3-4 weeks! 8GB is perfectly fine for everyone. If you find you need more juice you're far better off buying a refurbished slave machine for 1/10th of the price of upgrading to 16gb ram. Also don't ever plan to use a laptop long term. Their useable life for production purposes is 5 years as you're more likely to buy the next iterations of the M1. Also it amazes me why people don't freeze audio tracks. Once you've made your composition freeze the track as there is really no need to run samplers or synth plugins live. Free the CPU.
@ToleXMusic2 жыл бұрын
