This is a beautiful painting that brought back a lot of memories for me. My wife and I got married in Japan in September 2008 (awhile ago I know), and after that wen went with my Dad and mother in law to Shirakawa-go, it was a hot day and I took a lots of photos! It is truly a stunning village, I think most of the buildings are over 100 years old? Thank you for sharing this painting with us, I have enjoyed every single one you have made.

Creating art makes me happy and watching a master artist at work is also so satisfying! You put your heart and soul into this series and it shows, the works are masterpieces, I'm sure your client must have been very happy with what you created. Well done! And thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about the piece and a little history and interesting information about the locations you covered in this series. Japan is a beautiful country with so much fascinating history and culture. I often use 'Google street view' to virtually visit various countries, several months ago I (virtually) toured Shirakawa village, Gifu pref. Some of the Google street view had been recorded in spring/summer and some of it in winter, so I got to 'walk' the streets or pathways there seeing snow piled up very high and then could also see what it looks like with no snow. I loved it! So seeing you paint this had some extra special meaning.

I'd be so intimidated to paint that background of trees! There's so much to learn from watching your process!

I know I say this about every single one of your pieces, but this one has a special place in my heart. You've captured that coziness that can only be felt in Winter. It's always been a dream of mine to one day experience Shirakawago. It's such a beautiful place. ❤️❄️

I'm always so impressed by artists who can manage painting many objects overlapping each other, which in this painting you demonstrated with the small buildings in the distance and the mountain's forest in the back. What is your line of thinking when you paint such small/overlapping objects?
@mattjabbar2 жыл бұрын
I try to understand what all the objects are and paint them accordingly and not just try to reproduce something I see on the reference photo. 👍

Hi Mateusz, just visited your exhibition about storefronts here in Milano with my japanese girlfriend, very nice work Your nightscapes book, that I purchased, reminded her of my night photography in Japan :) Sparkled in me the desire to draw again, what watercolors and digital would you suggest? I really love poster colors, and not a big fan of iPad
