I met him when my dad took me to an open training session he did about 12 years ago. While the cameras were filming and the journalists were there, he played the humble, friendly, normal guy, after they left we got to see the real Carl Froch, arrogant, and rude, exactly the same way you described him. My dad said afterwards, you can have all the money in the world, but it can’t buy class and good manners. On the flip side I met Nigel Benn a few years ago, he was a top guy, he stopped to chat with me and have a photo. I told him how big a fan my old man was of him, and how he used to show me his fights when I was a kid, and he got me to FaceTime my old man, and made his day. A better man than Froch, and a better fighter, Nigel would have knocked him out before round 6 lol.

Doesn’t surprise me about Nigel benn, the man isn’t a fake, he always came across as what u see is what u get. Never got above himself despite being a legendary fighter. I think Froch was a great fighter but an insecure man, he needs to big himself up, if he doesn’t see u worthy of validating him he will probably ignore you. His reaction to groves made perfect sense, he wanted George to worship him, when he didn’t his ego just couldn’t take it. He loves George now because he does give him the respect and puts up with his ego.

My cousin is a pretty well known fighter. Probably as famous if not more famous than Froch. I was with him in a restaurant and a young guy came over asking for an autograph and was very apologetic for disturbing us as he explained it was for his dad who was unwell. My cousin sat the guy down and spoke to him very solemnly explaining his own dad was unwell and how he understood. The young fella was over the moon. I know wherever that guy is he will speak highly about my cousin. As you say manners don't cost anything.

Froch was limited due to training under McCrappen his career, I remember watching the fight and seeing Ward spit his gumsheild out in the 12th round to buy a break, not bad for such a technically limited fighter, shame Ward was so fcking boring and adversed to taking risks he could have been a star

@@glenleon323 Agreed, but my point with Froch is his personality, banality and ego. He's so "humble" he claims he was the third best supermiddleweight of all time. As for his punditry "skils", as bad as they are, he probably thinks he should get his own show and is the main reason people tune in.

Happens in life. My wife has 2 friends who I refuse to socialise with anymore. There have been too many times where I sat there like a spare part, got "tolerated" where anything I said was met with a short response before moving onto "more important" topics etc. The final straw was at a small birthday party for their daughter. We were completely ignored all day by everyone. I work as a school teacher. I remember looking around and thinking "I teach children, some of who's parents could come in here any buy absolutely every person in this room and no way would they ever behave like this". The only way of dealing with people like these in life is to stay well away from them.

So there you go it's all about class, respect and education...you my friend have it in abundance...now yer man "Froch" was a great boxer and indeed had he's day......yet today 2022 he has nothing.. Now as a massive fighting and boxing fan , I would rather listen to someone like your self who has a huge bucket of interesting life stories to tell and share, than hear about the lack of manners and respect from a former has-been. Hi Matt. I can tell how you come across and speak you are a genuine nice lad who has little care of a persons wealth or status.....basically you will treat everyone with respect and that is the way to be. Whether someone is homeless.owns a mansion and a country .....if we do not give all the same respect when addressing them we are then the ones with the issues... Carl Froch issue is he is a very very bitter lad....he was a good fighter with a granite chin and big punch which got him out of trouble on numerous occasions....his actual boxing was good but nowhere and I mean nowhere near the level of Joe.....who was basically a workhorse in the ring. The difference between Calzaghe and Froch is Calzaghe would have spent half an hour with you........treating you the same way he would treat Roy Jones.....the reason he would is he is a normal humble lad.....Froch is bitter Calzaghe is retired undefeated and gets in the hall of fame.... I remember when Joes father died....the same year bearing in mind he lost his mother to covid as well Froch came out and commented about Joes red bloated face .....who in life with any decency would criticize a guy losing both parents in a pure bitter dig?.... Froch I repeat was a good pro ....but his fist saved him in a few when losing....this reply is not about who was a better boxer....it is a reply to tell you how his bitterness started.....Calzaghe......Froch is known globally as a arrogant lad but for him to do that to you does not surprise me.....no1 and I mean no1 is better than anyone in terms of status.....criminals convicted you could argue yes those crimeless are morally but on status or jobs....careers....nope.......it is a job he simpy did very well. Carl needs to step back and have a good long look at himself. Treating anyone in life because they are not worthy of his aura really defines him .

Hi Matt I’ve done some sparring with his brother Lee ( nice guy by the way) in the past who at the time was fighting on the EBF circuit doing well. Was around Carl maybe 2 or 3 occasions and the only way I can put it into words it was like being around a diva. Would of been nice for a tiny bit of eye contact and that the one question I dared to ask was not like me asking for a kidney. Good luck to the man though one thing I will say he is a great brother to his older brother and seems like a good family man. But damn delusions of grandeur all the way.
