You can't land with *one* ion engine, but you could probably clip a couple hundred into a craft and do it
@ryanspence58313 жыл бұрын
@@Arae_1 no, that isn't how twr works., one engine on its own with no fuel and electric support has a TWR of 0.81, meaning no matter what you do, ion thrust alone cannot exceed 0.81 G's of acceleration, which is not near enough to land on Tylo.

Ion engines can technically be used on tylo, you can get into lko with ion engines... it only took over 16,000 parts, he used part welding to make it not take a whole month to load and run at 1 frame a hour, tylo might be barely possible without part welding, but it would be a 4 frame per second behemoth at launch. having had to do plumbing on old homes, maintain wells and pools, and even empty a septic system in my youth, I learned a lot about in door plumbing and pool care so I'm pretty sure your yellow water was one of three things... either A: it was being treated with chlorine (common practice and not as bad as it sounds), B: you had Iron and Manganese from either rusty pipes or well water, or C: you had a water softener that was pretty old and the soluble iron on the water softener resin may have oxidized to rust. All three would give you yellow water that smelled a bit funny. But given this was a city building I'd probably bet on it being number 3, just an old water softener that needed to be changed. Hope that helps your yellow mystery water make a bit more sense. and none of the three things are like super dangerous or anything, just annoying is all.

One thing I love about the Apollo missions is they ended up alternating between the serious, sense-of-history missions and the ones that were shouting yippee and playing with golf balls. It's kind of a shame Collins never landed because you know he'd have done something that'd have got him a real bollocking when he got home. Your description of Crewe reminds me of a comedian (can't remember who) who did a stand-up thing where he asked a member of the audience "where are you from?". They'd answer, and he'd say "I'm sorry" and so they repeated themselves because they thought he didn't hear them. Then he'd say, "No, I'm sorry for you if you're from (wherever)". That sounds like it'd suit Crewe well.

Bro tip: if you have early versions tundra technologies installed, you can use the starship to land on any moon in the jool system since it can easily survive Reentry, has room for more than just scientists and pilots, has strong enough engines to land if it isn´t fueled to overflowing, and has vacuum optimised engines. if you have a Starship in orbit for refuelling at both kerbin and laythe you can use another starship sent from kerbin, refuel in LKO, go to Laythe (it has ~5km/s of ΔV in space), use the atmosphere to slow down and put a payload in orbit, refuel and return to kerbin.

Hey Matt, I don't know if you'll ever see this, but you're mod tutorials have been very helpful and all of your videos are extremally entertaining and keep up the good work. Cheers!

Woke up at 4:30am and see this in my recommended. I'm enjoying listen to you ramble about the lift doors of this seemingly abandoned building. :)

I love when the commentary becomes Matt talking about his life, it gives the video a some kind of spice to it.

One of my new favorite Matt Lowne videos, if only for that amazing storytime segment.

Watched every minute of it ! Great achievement and your KSP skills are indeed amazing. I just wished you had put some RCS in the landing module as the dockings were a bit painful.

Matt, you're a Brit. When it comes to the banana experiment, you should know better. Americans might fall for it, but we know it's very hard to lose heat in a vacuum because we use vacuum flasks to keep our tea hot. ;) Incidentally, the hottest temperature ever recorded of a naturally-occuring substance was not anything to do with the Sun, it was plasma in the vicinity of Jupiter. The probe which recorded it was not damaged because the plasma was so thin, it could hardly impart any heat to the dense metal of the spacecraft.

Late to the party but I've really been enjoying your videos. I was hooked back in to KSP recently, and I'm determined to progress past my current peak of landing on the Mun and returning successfully 😅

9Y 134D (Kerbin time) At the top left, I'm guessing that's an accurate count towards the end on the main module. Accounting for Kerbin -> Earth time, where a Kerbin year is 0.3 Earth years, it would be 2Y 256D Earth time. This video took an hour, so overall time compression was 9Y134D (Kerbin Time) : 1H (Earth Time) = (Earth Time) 23,662 hours into 1 hour. (I used the KSP wiki for conversion values, some approximation for ease, and I didn't include the bit at the end; so I'd say ±6H Earth time [~1D Kerbin time]) If anyone finds I did this wrong, please let me know :)
