I only lube one whole side of mold with Pam spray oil. I shoot a little on my table then take a tooth brush and lightly brush a thin coat of oil in one side of mold. The char lures stick to unoiled side. Take knife and cut tail and lift out body leaving tail in slot. Next I put top mold back on shoot body color. Works well for me. Lot less problem putting tail section in mold.

I’m trying to do the same with the paddle tail I couldn’t figure it out until I came across your video good information and good tips Great video Matt as always
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful! You can always just do white and then dip the tail in whatever color. There’s dips you can buy that you can keep with your tackle.

i have a question. couldn't you just pour in chartreuse for a particular amount of time into the mold to replace the tail process? and then pour in the other color after?? or would they mix??
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 3 ай бұрын
They will mix. The color essentially lines the cavity all the way down.
@jacobpicard25
@jacobpicard25 10 ай бұрын
So how well did the body stick to the tail? If you slightly pull the tail does it break off where the colors meet?
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 10 ай бұрын
It works fine. You just need to pour the body color a little hotter so the adhere to each other well

I'm doing my molds in the garage but I do have four little ones that run around and come in the garage occasionally I do have a fan and I crack the garage and I use regular masks the cheap ones should I be doing anything different or something to stay safer is making these baits safe for my kids to walk in
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
I try to keep my kids away when I’m doing it if i can. I honestly don’t know all the safety things for it. I’m not the best when it comes to that knowledge

I didnt see one on the website, but does Do It Molds have a senko tail mold, or do you have to just make the senkos and cut the tails off if you want to add them to another color body?
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
That’s the easiest way to do it. I’ll look as well on the do-it site and if i find one I’ll let you know.

Would I be able to take this up as a hobby, if I have a really bad back with some nerve damage?
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
I think you could. I do stand when i make them, but if needed, you could probably do it sitting down if it was set up appropriately. The heaviest part of the whole process is a falling on plastisol.

Just curious, can you still use the microwave to cook food after using it for making plastic lures? Or do use it as a dedicated microwave for lure making?
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
I don’t use it for food. I only use it for marking baits. I don’t know if it’s actually an issue, but I’d play it safe and have one dedicated for food and one for baits

why not dip the tails into a chartreuse dip after you make the lamination? seems like a lot of work when a simple solution exists...
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct, but this process will work no matter the color for the tail, but a lot of companies make baits with chartreuse tails, so people obviously want it premise.

I just recently got that mold been shooting some baits for some reason they are coming out really dull looking not shiny any ideas
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 2 жыл бұрын
That’s how they turn out with the cast aluminum. Use less colorant and they’ll be a little more vibrant, and there’s probably other videos out there about using cooking oil and high heat paint on the mold to get the shiny look. This a cast aluminum mold, and not cnc. Cnc will give the shiny look.

I was shooting remelt plastics from some plastics I was never going to use so I melted it all down to make some swim baits. Here soon I'll be melting new plastics and making colors
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome. You can get really cool baits with these molds. When you make your own colors you’ll be able dial them in a little more.

Ok so there is no way to pour only a tail then pour body ok
@MattLunaFishing
@MattLunaFishing Жыл бұрын
Not that I’m aware of. This is the only way I’m familiar with doing it. If the mold had a specific tail mold then yes you could, but there’s no specific tail mold at this time.
