The funny part about this game being free on the Microsoft Store, is that it's likely a consequence of the Silicon Knights lawsuit against Epic that forced SK to destroy all of their copies of this game. Someone at Xbox wanted to make it backwards compatible, but they were told by Epic that they cannot do so, as long as anyone tries to profit off of it, so making it free was the compromise that no one can make any money from Too Human.

@AlDim000 Жыл бұрын
The death animation really isn't that bad. It's a great chance to check your email, do some stretching, go to the bathroom, post something on social media while taking a dump. You know, the game is just giving you an opportunity to take a break from itself cause it knows you need it. In all seriousness, I've played through this thing quite a few times and I actually found it quite enjoyable. As imperfect as it is, the combat can be a lot of fun with the right build.

Fun Fact: Borderlands successfully did what Too Human tried to do; being a four-person team-based local and online loot-based Diablo-style RPG. Too Human could have been good...had it not been helmed by a man who kept delaying and changing shit so no one could really progress on the game. Also, that game has broken achievements and they work or they don't and if they don't you're fucked.

My biggest complaint about this game is that leveling up your character is entirely superfluous; every time you level up, the enemies level up too, meaning that gaining experience forces you to equip new items and literally does nothing to benefit you in any tangible way. This game would be (marginally) more fun if you could EVENTUALLY just slice through the chaff like a hot knife through butter, but sadly it's not to be.

Despite the janky frame rate and outdated gameplay, Too Human still looks decent to this day. Unreal Engine is a powerful tool and I want to believe Silicon Knights didn't know how to utilize it to its fullest potential. I mean, BioShock came out a year before and it was a spectacular game from top to bottom. Game Designer Denis Dyack clearly has issues with game engines. His current game, Deadhaus Sonata, has switched game engines 3 times; first Amazon Lumberyard, then O3DE, and now Unity. That says it all.
