Just to reiterate, I do not dislike Power Stone 2 at all, I just prefer the first game for a number of reasons. While I don't mind a FEW dynamic/crazy stages, having all of them be such is just a bit overboard. While I understand this might be a different game that puts HEAVY emphasize on MP, I don't think they needed to completely sacrifice a more single-player focused setup as well. It just goes a bit too far in one direction for me to truly love it.
@KamisamanoOtaku4 жыл бұрын
An odd thought I had after playing Power Stone 2 for the Dreamcast long enough: what if this had become the basis for a Mega Man X game? Seriously, a bizarre, multiplayer Mega Man X game. We already have Axl. ;) Now the stages start to feel right, and it'd be kind of sweet to let up to four players hunt down Mavericks. Maybe that could affect the story as well; besides our regular crew, have the rest of the cast represent potential Maverick bosses; whomever you pick is the only one to resist infection!

Hello it's me, the Power Stone 2 defender. I definitely do not disagree that maybe the first is better and I'd have liked some less dynamic stages especially for playing 1v1 as they let you tweak what items can be used but not so much how crazy the stages can get. However my defense is, Power Stone 2 is a different game than the first. It's much more of a party game, more players and crazy stuff that is arguably adding variance which people will then scream "RNG" but will make a lesser player feel they have a better chance. Capcom have so many fighting game properties that, OK sure Power Stone was a fully 3D one and that was new but's a genre they never needed to add to. Goes without saying they have too much they don't know what to do with it as look at things like Rival Schools and Darkstalkers, they never get new games. Also at the time, for me at least this game was a lovely thing to compliment Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive 2 and would be possibly more popular as 3 pals could all pick up pads without having to wait any time at all. I know I'm probably in the minority but in the extremely unlikely case we do get to return the Power Stone world I'd actually prefer a game with more options like the second game as I feel it even now would feel more unique and not buried under the Tekkens, Street Fighters, anime fighting games and whatever else is popular. Anyway, appreciate you went back to finish this series off on video Matt

@@TheDJMeyer85 I'm still blown away that Okami is on Switch but not Viewtiful Joe. Oh well, love em both but I feel like Okami is Kamiya's masterpiece. Hopefully if VJ ever gets ported it comes with the PS2 content like RE 4's later ports did. Dante was fun as hell to play as and it was nice getting to see Team Little Devils get to use him again. Though Onimusha Warlords HD didn't include Genma Onimusha so there's precedent to ignore the extras. Then again Dante was a simple new character and some dialogue, Genma was an expanded, much harder rework and rebalance of the entire game that didn't contain the original version at all so probably much more work to combine the two versions with Walords being on Ps2 and Genma on Xbox.

It's funny because what you dislike about Powerstone 2 is what I loved about it. I think that you have to be someone who likes traversal and platforming in games, though. Maybe even a little parkour. I enjoyed the skill challenge of having to deal with other players and the environment, I liked that the environment was also in play so you had to be mindful of it and that was also another skill element. It opened the floor to other kinds of gamers. I guess what I'm getting at is that if you're a traversal specialist, you could cream fighting game pros in this, which I actuall enjoyed. It put different kinds of gamers on equal footing. I played this with a friend at the time who was might better than I at one-on-one fighters, but I excelled at traversal. As such, matches in Powerstone 2 could go either way. I liked that. I like that there can be more to it than just the other player. I think it's like the difference between enjoying racing simulations and kart racers. In a racing simulation it's just you versus the other players in a fairly straightforward track with no obstacles. In a kart racer, you have to take into account the obstacles. Powerstone 2 was the kart racer of fighting games.

@pendranomechannel67864 жыл бұрын
I agree that Power Stone 2 improved on the first in a lot of ways: with new characters, new items, and better presentation. And the new stages are definitely an improvement over the boxed in arenas from the first game. But Power Stone 2 takes a huge step backwards from the first where it counts the most, the gameplay: The characters all move slower, they can only perform one combo string instead of the various combo paths in the first game, no dive kick, only one Power Drive attack per character, and everybody has the same throw where they lift the opponent over there head. This leaves every character with a very limited moveset. Characters returning from the first game felt like shells of their former selves, when they had more fleshed out abilities and more moves. The first game was more technical and I think it could have been almost perfect if the dive kick wasn’t so overpowered. Overall, I think Power Stone 1 is still the better game.
@hatchibyebye4 жыл бұрын
I actually used to prefer power stone 2, I liked the dynamic stages and that there were more characters and weapons. But now, i look at it and the constant changing stages seems quite annoying. I wouldn't mind as much if stage transitions were prompted by an actual action instead of a timer. .

The fact that they made Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite revolving around Infinity Stones and did not include any of the characters from Power Stone baffles me to this day. Even so, that game plays well but is pretty ugly. These characters would have looked good in UMVC3.

Power stone 1 definitely the better experience if you want a pure 1v1 fight but I think for anything else power stone 2 is better. Not having any static stages for 1v1s was a mistake but this game just offers so much more in its coop and 4 player experience that it is a stronger game over all imo since power stone never allows you to have a straight no items fight to begin with so you cant have that totally competitive side to it like smash can
