997.2 GT3 RS Wash and Talk: Dual Kranzles (And a Smack in the Face)

I wanted to get a simple wash and talk up on the GT3 RS so I could get a baseline on the 997 GT3 before I start dialing in the exterior and size up the project. I also test the dual Kranzles and so far so good, it's working pretty great with a massive flow of 4+ GPM.

GT3’s trying to kill you with lift off oversteer, pressure washers smacking you in the face , quick disconnect giving you trouble and the pressol bottle failure. I've never really noticed it much when cleaning tires in person but I see what you mean about the nubs poking through the foam and it was driving me nuts looking at them. That'll definitely be the first thing I do when getting PS4 tires next Spring.

Been fortunate to have had a few fun cars over the years, a couple of E36 M3s, E90 M3 and a Shelby GT350. My one regret was not pulling the trigger on a 997.2 back in 2019 before the market got stupid on them. Have always considered that my favorite of the water-cooled. The one I had in line would have been a bit of a stretch, but still could have made it work. Can’t justify current prices. Now…I am just hoping I am the lucky winner of this one next summer…lol.

I keep brake buster out of my good foam cannon. $20.00 Lowes foam cannon has had brake buster in it for a year and works great.

If pressol could make those sprayers work with break buster and wheel acid, they would be the holy grail. No sprayers work with either for any length of time, rinsing them out each time helps.

Love the video. I am not sure what pads they use on the M series BMW's however i find them to always have the most brake dust of any car i detail lol. Loved listening to this and watching in the background at work today. Hope all is well and hope to see you guys in Helen sometime soon!

I think the rear twitching other than suspension worn out components and 911 behavior when lifting on a turn is 95% down to the PS4S tires (I believe you said that’s what is fitted) , I changed my Dunlop RaceMax oem on my 981 GT4 for PS4S and the rear steps out when grip conditions aren’t perfect, it’s the half compound tire design, I bet if you fit the Cup 2s 80% of that feeling loose will go away…..

30K miles on a Porsche 997.2 is not alot of miles. Actually pretty good. Especially if the vehicle was properly maintained and serviced by a factory trained mechanic. You can get the maintaince records from any Porsche dealership, while the car was in warranty or serviced by them.

Depends on the miles. If a lot of track miles, then it’s lived a hard life. In general, though, you are correct.

Matt beat me to the punch on having redundancy with 2 1322’s for maintenance, but another point if you are using the CR Spotless solution for DI, you would want to run only 1 1322 as the CR will only flow about 3 gph to keep zero tds. Once Matt’s bigger DI tanks are available, then I would imagine you could run both 1322s at 4 gph

Correct. You'd turn the 3 way valve to use only one. The CR barely keeps up with the one.

Makes me wonder what a dual AR630 setup will do. ~1000 psi at almost 5gpm with a 8.5 orifice nozzle maybe? Something like this would work great with the cheaper pressure washers. 2 little Ryobi in parallel would be a noisy Kranzle output for cheaper.

Hey Matt - if there's some residual "trace marks" from the old stripes on top of the PPF and you can't get them off, before you pull the PPF off, try using some Oil Flo Safety Solvent. Have you ever tried this product before? I suspect you have, but it's my absolute go-to cleaner for tough jobs where I also need to be gentle. Anyway, wanted to throw it out there as something else to try. Let me know if you give it a go. (No affiliation with the company, I've just been using it successfully for years). Go 'Cats! If you have time take some track racing classes to help you better understand the track setup of the gt3. The rear kick out is oversteer to help the car move through turns a lot faster.

No, 2.0 and under on the CR. I have a valve to switch to a single pump to use the CR.

If your gonna tint them, you wanted tinted PPF. As much as I'd rather not tint, some taillights look better a shade darker and something like Stek Dynoshade is about 10% darker and is still super visible at night and during the day
