That's neat - impossible to buy gym equipment these days, everywhere sold out due to gyms closing over Covid... and places that do have some for sale are selling at prices you'd expect for gold. Going to build my own few bits, this is a great place to start!

Hi did u end up making some adjustments for the seat? Or did u just leave it? Coz when doing exercises at an incline angle, the body would move forward a bit and if the seat was just flat, your body would slide along the seat. Thank you for this video btw, you helped me build an incline bench just like this one and your measurements were perfect so thank you

I've got a great idea for s video. You could make a video loading the bench up in incline position with weight to see how much it can take before breaking. However you'd be put of a bench lol. If you do this I would suggest angling the bench so weight would go flat on top of the bench when it is on an incline.

I am having such a hard time figuring how to create an adjustable decline and incline bench that can support my 144.2KG (317lbs) weight. I'll also be bench pressing 140/150kg. Any tips? Bro this is really overheating my brain as I'm a total newbie when it comes to wood work .
@MattLees-Nunan
@MattLees-Nunan 3 жыл бұрын
Oh, so you need a video on how to make a decline bench?
@fightermma
@fightermma 3 жыл бұрын
@@MattLees-Nunan You Don't have to make a video if it's too much hassle but if it isn't a bother sure a video would be great. However not just a decline bench It has to be an adjustable bench that goes incline, flat and decline. The problem I am having is that I need it to be strong. I was thinking about doubling the wood both for the frame and the thinner long bars of wood where the metal rod is inserted into which helps to adjust the bench. And if you are going to make one I would suggest putting some handles on the bottom of the bench so that when you put the bench in decline to do leg curls you have something to grab onto when you do leg curls. Lying leg curls are supposed to be done at a decline creating a pivot in the hips because this will help give a better contraction, the motion is easier to preform at this angle and you can use more weight. The flat leg press doesn't allow you to do this and is obsolete. That's why you never see a flat leg curl machine in the majority of gyms today.

@@MattLees-Nunan Lol bro I'm creating a wood horse. All of this is very new to me so I get frustrated at times trying to figure out what to do. Hope you and your family are doing well.

After months and months of research I'm finally getting ready to buy equipment. Matt what work do you do? Are you a builder? You seem like a real pro handling those tools. What are those googles called that welders use to prevent sparks from flying in to their eyes? Lol I'm a bit too scared to go maskless like you cutting steal. You're a savage. In good way I mean.

Awesome to hear bro. I look forward to seeing how it ends up! Yeah safety glasses/goggles are important. Definitely recommend them!

looks quite interesting :) but still seems a bit unstable. What do you think? I'm doing flat bench with 120-130kg + my own weight of about 90. Will it cause problems? of course it wont brake, but I think you know what I want to ask. thanks

Will definitely hold. Not a problem there at all. If you check out my insta stories under "IsoGym" you will see a fellow subscriber who loaded it up on the incline setting! This will give you some reassurance😁

Why did you choose to use a yoga mat instead of foam and vinyl for the padding like others have done? Also why no Simpson strong ties? Were these choices to do with price/convenience? Not a jibe just curious my friend.

Hahaha I love the questions!😍 Exactly, it comes down to price and what the average person is capable of achieving with limited skills, knowledge or financial stability. My channel is about giving people opportunity to have a go! I liked how you said why not use vinyl or foam like everyone else? Well...I'm not like everyone else😁👊

@@MattLees-Nunan How foes it feel just using a yoga Matt? I've got some spare laminate kitchen flooring. I was thinking of buying foam and then wrapping that laminate around it. Would that work or would the laminate material not be stretchable enough to wrap around the foam?
