Kaycee is so brave and mature to share about her struggles with ED and mental health. These are such common struggles, especially for girls, and her voice tells them, “You are not alone, you are enough and you can heal.” I didn’t realize that Matt is so gentle and empathetic until seeing him here.❤ It was his video of Kaycee and Bailey doing the Nicki Minaj that got me interested in this world of dance.

I have always adored Matt as a dancer and especially as a choreographer. More recently, I love that Matt is embracing all his loves and talents. I couldn't think of a better person to interview Kaycee. Thank you both for sharing this with us. I already knew a lot about Kaycee, but I definitely learned more! Thank you for the adorable photos of Sean and Kaycee! They have a love for each other that is so hard to find. Thank you for the footage to show just how amazing Kaycee is at dancing. She really embodies the choreography that she is taught (and now she does her own, too!). Thank you for being so honest with us, Kaycee. Your story will influence others in ways that you will never even know. We love you.

I’ve been following Kaycee since we were both 12, and I loved growing up watching her perform _everywhere_ from Scott DW to World of Dance. In middle school I constantly tried to copy her, and sometimes in college I still do 😅 But after seeing this, it made me realize how much I really didn’t know about her all along. Especially with eating-there was a period where I was a bit confused and concerned, but I brushed it off and assumed she was one of those ppl that was just naturally thin and doing fine regardless, even though she was really struggling. Glad to hear her mom cared enough to intervene and hope she’s doing better today.

Thank you for making a video like this especially with Kaycee and allowing us to hear her story. I’ve looked up to Kaycee for so long now she’s even inspired me to start dancing again, but if you hadn’t made this video I would’ve never had known about her eating disorder and I feel so bad about what she went through. I’ve always thought she was so pretty though and I never thought that she would’ve been going through something like this but as I’ve gotten older I’ve been going through these same stages even to where I thought I needed to eat more healthy and watch my diet at the same age she did but in the past I’ve had so trouble with eating as well so I’ve been debating what I should do about it but now I know, thank you for this!

Please tell her that I hope she recovers fully - and tell her I am glad she found the courage and strengh to talk openly about this - it will undoubtebly help a lot of people ... Thanks for being a friend for her - and for promoting dance and expression the way you do. Regards, Edme.

Thank you for showing how, in a industry where perfection is expected, there is beauty and grace in the struggle and how these experiences are part of the journey to one’s personal view of “perfection”.

I can relate to her a lot actually. I was five dancing around in my grandparents garage to music from the 70’s and 80’s. Started classes at age 6 and fell in love with it and decided that I wanted to teach. By the time I had turned 20, I had sat over 17 levels in jazz, hip hop, ballet,, lyrical, musical theatre, contemporary and even line dancing, with over 95-100% passing rate, and I had gotten a few teaching jobs. I loved it so much, but there was definitely a lot of struggle with eating disorders and body shaming. Unfortunately had to quit dance two years ago due to a bad back injury. But Kaycee is fantastic! I could really relate to what she said about the struggles of dance.

Kaycee talking about her experience on Dance Moms is actually hilarious to me. I don’t know if anyone remembers when Sophia Lucia was on the show, but she also performed a dance that didn’t air on the show, and multiple of the things said on the show about Sophia’s education was incorrect, making it sound like Sophia didn’t do school full stop. Sophia was also pressured on the show to make sure her turns were perfect because that was the only thing the producers wanted to see, so they cut out like a minute and a half of her solo choreography and only highlighted the turns, which she received hate for. She was also bullied for her voice, and received death threats because she was referred to as “Maddie’s replacement” when Sophia hadn’t actually been told that that was why she was offered the spot on the team.

Love the interview but just a piece of constructive criticism. Whilst I can understand you want to draw people to your video, the clickbait nature of the title for the video feels a little tasteless and really cheapens what is a wonderful thoughtful interview. Especially when “viral influencer” and “overnight fame” doesn’t capture who Kaycee is in the dance community in any meaningful sense, I didn’t even know this interview was about her at first and was just confused by the feat. Much more than an influencer, Kaycee truly is a dance prodigy (and now choreographer) who had years and years of consistently mega viral videos of her dancing that made her the icon she is rather than a one hit overnight wonder video. Perhaps a little more thought into the title for your next dancers would be better to make it more clear and elevate it to the level that the interview actually is at…
@2tr6dinquwjosАй бұрын
Disappointed by the changes to the thumbnail and title too, even more clickbaity. Sigh. From a choreographer who knows Kaycee and her journey so well to diminish her to “Katy Perry made her famous” and “being afraid of food” feels very disrespectful and tacky, when you know well that it was then years of successful viral videos showcasing her rare talent which cemented Kaycee as a celebrity in the dance world, not just one video. I have loved your videos for years, but I just think this is something I would really think about going forward as it is really cheapening your content, despite the interview itself being great.
@urmom-sn1gjАй бұрын
I was looking for a comment like this! Almost didn't watch the video because of the thumbnail. The people who watch these interviews are likely people who remember and love Kaycee and all of her talent. Simply her name in the title should be enough for the intended audience in my opinion.
