I've done good on a firetiger type painted jerkbait..During the prespawn or spawn..I was fishing a public lake,and most likely it was viewed as a bluegill ,and a threat to the basses eggs or babies..I wore them out on it.A Walmart special.Havent seen one in years..

In a pinch you can use a 110 silent suspending with stock hooks and MONO. The mono will give the ‘suspending’ jerkbaits the same affect as the silent riser.

The companion to the Daiwa TD minnow is the TD Shad. Fishes great as a jerkbait, discontinued maybe 15-20 years ago, I have 2. Never could find it anywhere. Daiwa reps had no clue what it was. Took a picture and looked for it in Japan a few years ago. None of the shops had ever seen it. Very good shallow water jerkbait/crankbait plus it can take larger hooks and still have good action.

The Rapala Husky F 13 floater is one I didn't realize I had until I busted the lip off one and only have one remaining. They have a thicker longer lip than a regular floater and the profile is a little bigger. I love that bait for saugeye.

I was getting spanked by a old friend while chasing smallies in WV. He was using a vision 110 and I was throwing all the others and he was wearing me out until I got a cutter and put suspend dots on it. I out caught him 3-1 then.

Matt that daiwa jerkbait honestly reminds me of the deps balisong which is a slept on jerkbait they come in some different sizes but. They're great for colder water and there's a lot of guys in the UK using them for pike they have a unique sound to them cause of a ribbed sound chamber.

I don't have any discontinued jerkbaits that I am aware of. But I do rather enjoy buying the custom painted limited editions over at lurenet. I got a few custom painted Rebel Minnows that are super nice (along with custom painted spooks, cranks, etc, etc...). And most of the time you have to snatch them up quick because they don't last long!

I am a jerkbait fanatic and out west the 110 reigns Supreme, but there have been days the discontinued Jackall dowzvido will catch 5 to 1 over the 110. Very similar to the lucky craft pointer dd but more refined. Killer spotted bass and smallmouth bait.

Great video Matt and I was lucky to pick up a bunch of Berkley Cutters in both the 110 and the 90 sizes. Shocking though that Amazon has some selling for $48 CAD??!! Nuts. If you really like the Daiwa Ghost Blue Gill pattern the Strike King KVD 300 and 300 deep look exactly like the Daiwa Ghost Blue Gill and it is awesome!! I love the 300 Deep as it gets down nicely and you can work it super hard. If you have not tried it yet I think you will do well with them and Strike King has not discontinued them and hopefully not for a while. Thanks as always!

Pretty ridiculous Matt that Amazon let's people list at that price and then another listing is under $25 for the same lure. On the Ghost Bluegill colour I have done well with the Strike King KVD 300 deep. Awesome sunny bright condition jerkbait with that nice transparency. All the best man!

I also was disappointed to see the Cutter got discontinued. I’ve had days when it was the only lure I could get a bite on. The first jerkbait I ever caught a smallie with, which at the time was my PB, was the STORM Twitch Stick. It has a little deeper and wider body, and has a pretty tight walk-the-dog action. They’ve been discontinued for a while now, and I’m afraid to throw them without a wire leader so I don’t end up getting pike’d!!!

south of hwy 29 and some of the bigger lakes are still open...boat ramps may not be useable is the problem if they are in back bays. the bigger southern wisconsin lakes are mostly open. Lots of salt on the roads which I hate getting on the boat
