WAGS, consulted with a friend that is former F-18 pilot. He stated "breaking the deck" is the first aircraft to land on the ship, not to go below 2k ft. Each squadron will hold starting at 2k at 1k intervals for deconfliction. Bottom of the stack goes first with each squadron moving down 1k ft until it is their time to land. Also stated they hold at around 250 kts (400 too fast and burns too much fuel). Zip Lip is correct terminology. No contact with anybody inside of 10 mile radius of ship.

Primary use of the ATC is for maintaining angle of attack for landing on carrier. Its secondary use is for cruising. The ATC has two modes. Cruise mode you can just turn it on and it will keep the same speed and you can do whatever. But the other mode is for landing and it only engages when your flying slow and your near the E bracket already. When it turns on the auto throttle will keep you centered in the E bracket hands off for landing.

I really, really want to see this game get ATC and JTAC roles, and heavy transport/refueling/surveillance pilot and aircrew roles for DCS and multiplayer particularly. Absolutely think this should be the next step for the game as it adds a whole new level of immersivness and cooperation between players. Actually being able to talk to real people in the tower or awacs aircraft would be amazing. You could be juggling aircraft in the circuit pattern, communicating to strike aircraft targets on the ground, or conducting surveillance from above. Right now its a bit 2 dimensional in the aspect that the game only has fighter pilot roles, especially because it is a (digital) combat simulator, and not just a fighter pilot simulator.

Yeah, this jet is gonna make me get back into flight sims and get into DCS for the first time. It's been a long time and I'll need a new HOTAS setup but with this jet nearly released plus the F-14 on the horizon....this is gonna be a must have for me. Truthfully I'm more excited about the prospect of the F-14 because that's always been my dream aircraft to fly and to my knowledge there really hasn't been a high fidelity flight sim that's modeled that aircraft faithfully and accurately. The Heatblur F-14 module looks great and I can't wait. I'm not sure it'll be quite on the same level as the hornet here but all the same, I'm excited.
