@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
lucas wolf-pudney definitely, because the army is the most lenient and easiest branch to get into. The Army treats soldiers like children all the time so they're going to be less mature than members of other branches since the other branches have higher standards, so they take personal responsibility much more seriously than the Army. When I was in AIT (Ft Lee Quartermaster), I personally saw, and this is something you won't see online unless someone like me mentions it, that trainees of the Air Force and Navy were allowed to march back to their companies immediately after their classes were done, while Army trainees were all forced to stand in formation and wait around forever for their platoon sergeants to pick them up, because Army trainees just weren't trusted. This also may be a reason why every last duty day of the week, commanders/senior sergeants have to give the same long tiresome speeches over and over and over again about "don't do drugs," "don't drink and drive," etc. though I don't know about whether or not the other branches do or don't do the same thing but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. And this might also be one of the reasons why Army (and also Marines) are forced to do boring, and pretty useless, group PT every duty morning even though higher ups admit that the PT (called "PRT" in the army) is not meant to actually improve fitness, while the Air Force and possibly also Navy let their people oftentimes do their own PT.

I think another misconception (which kinda goes with the "everyone is a sharp shooter" misconception) is that everyone who goes into the military goes onto the front lines during war. I think people don't realize how many "jobs" (MOS'S) are in the Army. They think that everyone is out shooting people on the front lines. However there's a loooooot of people in the "background" who aren't out there shooting others and being shot at. A lot of today's Army members may never see a combat war situation. So depends on their MOS.

as to the pay it really depends on how you look at it. Lower enlisted pay just regular pay is not great, but you get all that other stuff, so really with lower enlisted it depends on how you look at it and what you expect base pay is really not that much in the lower enlisted ranks. Even in the higher ranks depending on what the MOS is you can make more money as a civilian to actually keep ( especially if you managed your money well in the lower enlisted ranks. All that to say that pay is debatable as to how you define "pay" as to how good it is or is not.

Joining the military has been on my mind for a few weeks now. More specifically the Marines. I've talked to a recruiter, with people at work that have joined, with random customers, at work, that I see wearing a veteran hat. I guess, my question is, what are good questions to ask these people. I'm in that stage of "I don't know what I don't know." Thank you!
@toasttea325 жыл бұрын
@Alfred Strickert I guess the main thing is I would like to learn a good amount of discipline. I understand that all of the branches teach you discipline, however I feel the Marines may be more intense about it. I am wanting to learn combat skills and learn a job that can later translate into a trade job possibly. Honestly, I am leaning towards going Special Operations unit. The thing is, I'm assuming there isn't much useful skills that can become transfered into the civilian world after going into the Spec Ops.
@toasttea325 жыл бұрын
@Alfred Strickert I am willing to put in that work. I'm definitely not about giving up, especially with the mindset of growing as individual. In particular, building discipline, maturity, teamwork, and challenge of taking on something that takes on your mental strength as well as physical. I think after what you said is convincing me more to joint the Marines. From what I looked up and learned so far, seems like it is my best fit. Do you have an personal information on what it's like to be in spec ops and the life afterwards? I've seen some guys on KZbin that were Marine Raiders and/ Recon. However, I like to learn more than just one experience for these kinds of things. As they usually involve subjective experiences.
@toasttea325 жыл бұрын
@Alfred Strickert Awesome! Thank you for your service, Marine. And when I say that, I mean the fact you volunteered a part of your life to protect and serve for our country. Not too many people can say that. From what I've learned. I live on the West coast. Washington to be more specific. The people who go to basic training in San Diego are more likely to be deployed in places like Afghan or Iraq because of the similar climates. Is this true?

just ask a few open ended questions - what branch did you serve in? Would you do it again? A real veteran will probably be a little quiet at first. So explain that you are interested in serving and want some unbiased opinions. Just be aware that not everyone who wears "veteran" merchandise, is an actual veteran. And not every veteran has a closet full of "I served" t-shirts or what have you. I'm a proud, honorably discharged veteran, and I have no "veteran" regalia. Good luck to you! Remember that it's a Privelege to serve!

Hey fellow battle buddies just here to share my experience in the army so far not really relevant to the video at all but I figured this was the perfect place to come to, so i joined January 9 and graduated march 21 2019 from ft Jackson 1/61 cco, my mos is a 92R which is a para rigger. Now after I graduated basic i went to a place called AOC (airborne orientation course) where all we did was litteraly PT all day pt test every Monday 4 mile runs every wensday and pt morning and in the afternoon all 92r have to reoprt to AOC after they graduate basic where you must pass the pt test with a 60 or more to pass on to airborne school i have a pretty good pr score with it being a overall score of 270 but i ended up having a hip “injury” when it was really just muscle irritation and i became a hold over there for 6 weeks when i was only supposed to be there for 2 weeks while all my friends were on to jump school and continuing their profession, so i finaly made it to jump school where i spent a whole 2 weeks and 3 days training only to injure my back on my 3rd jump while qualifying, if you dont know they’ll drop anybody for about almost anything so i had been med dropped and is currently now a hold over at airborne school where im currently waiting to be chapterd out the army on a Chapter 11 wich isnt a bad chapter and we do shitty details all day long and get our freedom taken away from time to time :) but at least i have the option of joining the military back not complaining just sharing my exp and maybe you guys can take from it

In the UK, ALL service personnel, commissioned and enlisted are Soldiers First. regardless of the service branch, that's why we all have/had the same initial 14 weeks training, that's what makes you a soldier. So to call a Navy rank a soldier, would not be correct. When i left i heard years later that my unit was short manned and NCO's were doing Guard duty like private soldiers, which would mean upper ranks would also drop down in the "level" of job they would be doing in a situation like that if required. Because the essence is that we're all soldiers.

I'm 19 and I'm leaving for BCT June 19. I have had my own apartment for a couple years now and I'm not sure I want to vacate for just sixth months and then find a whole new apartment when I come back...plus move all my stuff lol.Can u do a video explaining how housing allowance works?? My landlord doesn't do direct deposit and I don't exactly have enough to pay her in advance. My recruiter just told me to take my lease to BCT and they would handle it(he's not really the informative type),but I wanna be sure before I I leave. Thank u. Sorry for the stupid question .

As far as weapons training I would say it depends more on what unit you are in not what MOS you are. As a signal guy myself spending most of my career at a BCT I have had plenty of weapons training and plenty of range time.

Deployed the amount of briefings you get or are involved with depends on your rank and MOS. If you are a general or CSM you probably get a lot of briefings. If you are a SPC in intelligence you may be involved in a lot of briefings.

I am really interested in the 88k MOS. Any way you could do a video on it?
@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
SoCal Steve watercraft operator was one of the very few MOS's available to me at MEPS due to the fact that no other MOS's were open at the time because I had to be in quickly before my birthday. I couldn't do research on it, so I wound up picking another MOS that it turns out is one of the worst in the military with the Army being the worst branch for it (92G). I found out later on (way too late of course) that watercraft operator is supposed to be one of the better jobs in the Army.
@socalsteve54605 жыл бұрын
@@macburger5026 It is definitely the MOS I am most interested in. Possibly 92W as well.
@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
@@socalsteve5460 As far as 92 whiskey water treatment goes, I really dont know about it, but since it is 92 series (quartermaster), I'd stay away from it. Not only would have you arguably the strictest AIT after basic, but I assume that someone in it wouldn't be that different from 92 Sierra (shower laundry) in that you wouldn't actually be doing your job very much if at all when you get to your unit at your duty station after AIT if you go active duty. That might be one of those MOS's where you're really going to end up spending a very large portion of your time being a slave out in the motor pool cleaning out sheds all day long day in and day out because there's nothing for you to do, If you want that type of job, then I would suggest looking to the Air Force instead of the Army. The Air Force, if you could get the job with them (ASFC 3E4X1) would be far more likely to actually have you doing your job instead of mindless details like the motorpool which is what you'd be more likely to do if you went Army. *Believe me, that's one of the many things that uniquely suck about the Army that no one tells you about* . I'm not saying that you'll never do your job in the Army, but definitely it is a roll of the dice and a possibility that you'll just get sent to a unit that has no use for your MOS. People in the Army who actually in fact do their MOS can't guarantee that they'll still be doing it if they get orders to go to another unit at another base. The AirForce may not be completely perfect, but they get straight to the point as opposed to the Army which likes to do a whole lot of fluff. Hopefully that's not too much information for you to process right now.

If I was a cyber warfare officer, would I need to worry about getting sent overseas?
@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
Matthew Mazzetti In the Army, deployments depend on unit, not MOS. So really anyone of any MOS in Army can deploy. If you don't want to deploy, probably the AirForce would be the best option, and if you do deploy with the chair force, you'll have the best time over their as opposed to Army or Marines.
