I met Richard when I was a kid, he waited an hour just to meet me. And he was very nice and friendly.

I'm pretty sure Richard Petty is not going to wait a hour just to meet you. More like you waited an hour to meet Richard Petty. He was signing autographs fir other people.

Someone PLEASE sit Richard down with David Pearson before it is TOO LATE
@marquis281v85 жыл бұрын
David Pearson had a stroke a few years ago and hasn't made any public or media appearances since.
He seems like a nice guy. I’m not much of a NASCAR guy, but it always refreshing to see famous people be friendly and humble.

Great video! So impressive and Richard could not have been more accommodating. What a class act! Wonder how much Richard made STP over the years. To this day, he’s the first thing I think of when I see an STP product.

Awesome footage of the King Matt. I wish I could get more involved in racing other than being a fan of it everyday. :) A tour with the King: Priceless.

Almost bought a New , light blue Dodge Dart w/ 340ci 4speed , roll cage ..no radio + #43 on exterior of Petty Dodge production car of 500 was made ... but dad didn’t want to co-sign ...grrr!!!! That had to be late 60s to early 70s era. The motor was speciality tune , street/track tires , all Petty badges , tuned exhaust system & loud for public buyers.

Most winningest driver in NASCAR history. Jeff Gordon came close and so did David Pearson . Petty set a lot of records and most he was driving Dodge or Plymouth. That era was big motors and big balls . No power steering and flying over 200 mph . Petty was first to innovate many safety equipment in the race cars which NASCAR later mandated. Great video. Awesome and great man that has a lot of knowledge

The reason they have safety nets is because of a crash at Daytona I believe his head it the ground multiple times and that's when they finally made it mandatory to have them.
@pumpkinking51743 жыл бұрын
@@christopherwinter2099 That was his Darlington crash in 1970. After that, Richard's mom hand made him a window net. Then, all the drivers followed.
