Now that place is a blast from the past. I remember we used to go in there every Friday when I was a kid in the 80's after my mam did her big weekly shop in Dunnes, which used to be directly across from it, and then get the number 2 bus back to Mahon eating them, the bus must have stunk of chips. 😆

I remember my first time going there back in the late 90's. I asked him for curry on my chips and he replied "we dont have any of that foreign shit"😂 so i said ketchup will do thanks. Went there many time after that. Great chipper.

One person went to the trouble of giving this a thumbs down. How strange?

To answer your question, he retired. Mattie was a gentleman. Never discriminated between social classes. Served everyone the same whether they were rich or poor, prince or pauper. Was a genuinely decent human being. Had great food. Miss Mattie and his co worker. Best wishes to them. ☘️🌝🌲
