Usually goat or lamb in birria tacos but that burrito is big enough to share! Looks delicious.

Yes. I think most birria places here use beef to cater to the local palate. And it is cheaper here since everything is so expensive. I hope one day to try birria with goat or lamb!

"Green river machine" brings back memories. Watching this, I kinda wish I still worked in sector 1. We just got back from Korea a couple days ago. Lot's of eating. I'm kinda over Korean food (for now). I think it's time for some birria tacos and burritos.

Yes Sector 1 grinds. Just park on Maunakea and cross the street for tacos from the substation 🤣 I get it about Korean food. One time we went to Korea and I saw a Popeyes and was on it! Even in Thailand got tired of it and craved a steak but the restaurant didn't know how to prepare it right. Hope your trip was awesome. I want to go to Korea in the fall but we shall see if work gives me off for the 5th time this year. 🤣

I think the rent is a little cheaper there so I figure that's why some of the food is cheaper too. Such a great place and I wanna try their birria tacis too! Yes it was huge! We made 3 meals out of it LOL. I forgot to tell you that they were playing your Chinatown video in the food court of Maunakea Marketplace! You can see it playing on the TV while I walked through. I said Eh that's Sean! I thought that was super cool.

Ooh, I was just at MM on Thursday morning and noticed that new place. It didn't look like they were serving yet, so I got Filipino food from the adjacent stall. I'll definitely check Lime out in the next few days. Gracias Amiga!

Hi Misty! Wow this place looks ono! We love Birria tacos and even though you only get 2 in the order we agree you’re getting a good portion. Interesting to know it’s got a little heat to it as well. The burrito was massive and for $15 in Hawai’i that’s a really good deal. Definitely gotta add this to our list! Also good to hear customer service is great as kindness goes such a long way. Building on what you were saying about 'customer service'. I once worked in fast food, and it was stressed to us to follow procedures, 'window/service steps'. As that was a lifetime ago, it seems that many people have forgotten that key element of retaining customers n=and creating positive word of mouth. I really wish that owners, managers, etc...try to place an emphasis on this, as every establishment are competing for our dollars...just a thought.

Seems like people dont care anymore. If I get blatantly terrible service I wouldn't ever go back. However now it seems people will put that past them and still patronize and establishment that treats them like dirt. Don't get it. That's why some seem to survive.

@@FoodFiend As a matter of habit, I always say 'thank you' to the server, even if it's getting my food at a fast food drive-thru window. It's shocking when they respond to my 'thank you' with theirs. As I'm not trying to sarcastically remind them to do so. I just feel that everyone should thank people when they give/present us with anything. Even if its us consumers giving patronage to an establishment.

Wow, that burrito is humongous. I rarely go to Chinatown but now I'm gonna make trip when the weather gets better. I have yet to try birria yet so maybe I'll have to make 2 trips. Haha.

Buenas noches Misty: This was a great find! I never imagined a taqueria in the Maunakea Market Place. The food looks excellent - just like my neighborhood taco truck. I have to visit this taqueria when I visit Chinatown Honolulu during the next visit. I hope Aiden enjoyed the burrito, which was huge like the ones from the my neighborhood taco truck. The food looks delicious! I think it is a smart decision to put a fresh looking Mexican place in Chinatown. Something new and on trend to help revitalize the area. Hopefully the Mauanakea managers and other building owners in Chinatown will jump on the bandwagon to expand this idea. Maybe even making it more international flavored. It could be very good for everyone. I'm actually a tradionalist when it comes to retaining the original architecture and feel of a building or place such as Chinatowns all over the globe. There's so much histor of cultural diaspora. I find it important and meaningful to keep those stories alive. 🎉 But when our cultural places of commerce are being wiped out by the economy, developers or changing faces of consumers, I can only think they must be saved. Even if new flavors and partners are brought in. Let's wish Lime and other new businesses success in bring a more vibrant, diverse and sustainable business environment to historic Chinatown. Thank you for today's foodie adventure and the parking tip.

Thank you! Yes you're right. Things should be kept the same. At least the architecture anyway if it has some significance in history or traditions. I wonder with all the office space down the street turning into apartments how the area will change. Hopefully more customers at all times of the day and evenings to spruce up the place.

Dang it, lol! I just went to Chinatown today to get pho for breakfast (was watching your vids while i ate but this one wasn't posted yet). Guess i was still craving more acid-salt-fat-heat so picked up a taco from another Mexican place in Chinatown for lunch. I like to stroll the area and walk through Maunakea Marketplace to take in the ethnic food vibes after i pau eat. But due to rain i skipped the stroll. The other month i saw those folks setting up that stall but had no idea what was coming up. Had i known i would've gone to Lime. The birria tacos looked exactly like what i was craving and coulda tried something new (even though my two other spots were great). Love the story at the end. That kind of thing brightens my day and definitely makes me want to support businesses ☺️. Lime's on my list to try 👍!

I do remember the Jolly Roger's both in Kahala and Kalihi but never had pork teriyaki. That's something very rare to find now days. Never seen it. But there's good teriyaki beef and chicken at Okata Bento in Kaimuki? I know not close but never seen that before. Maybe try Mitsuken in Kalihi. Seems like they have that. Try call first before going to confirm.
