What’s the reason for the V shaped gap? Following anatomy? Leaving room so there’s space for elastic deformation within, while the horseshoe fixes the outer part? I have no idea, just questions… - is the nail polish anti-fungal?

When I was 13, during a post op appt on my foot, my podiatrist used a scalpel to shave off some of the callus on my feet. She went slightly too deep and I nearly kicked her in the face when I jerked away from the blade on instinct. Something tells me a horse would react worse if the farrier cut too deep.
