What a pretty lady she was! I loved her starring with John Wayne in several films. Two superior stars, the likes of which we'll never see again! Maureen O'Hara died 3 years ago at age 95. Of course The Duke passed away in 1979 of cancer, at age 72. They were great long-time friends. We miss them both.

I just watched the Quiet man and it was a great script, great tension, great acting and great all around. Years ago, I saw an article where the other actors on this movie did not like miss ohara a real lot. She was a First Class Drama Queen. Not in the classical Hollywood sense. She would like do things like break a nail, cause a big drama, go to the hospital and shut the movie down. this must have happened more than once or the other actors would not have been so annoyed. I do not know if it is true, but the on screen chemistry between her and wayne was great. I wish a woman would show me she felt that way about me in real life. I think every man dreams of having an ideal woman like him. Great movie and wish more were made like that today.

Why did middle-aged women dress up and do their hair like grandmothers back then? Maureen was very attractive and could have looked 20 years younger with a different outfit.

People were more grown up back then. Many people were grandparents in their 40s. By 50, people felt old and acted old. Allot of aging is in the mind.

@@spiritchild9101 IT's a strange phenomen. At 57, the ugly dress and the teased hairdo make Maureen look like she's in her late 60s. With a smart outfit, she could certainly have looked 39 or 40.

And also Maureen wasn,t the only person who mentioned that John Ford was cranky therefore what she said about his character is credible. It seems also that you don,t understand that her book is written in conversational style and parts of it is meant o be humorous. Also you don,t seem to understand that the sppech in the video above was meant to be humorous.

Besides..there is a lot of bitterness..putdowns in her book.John ford was in love with her..yet she trashes him.. l bet when she saw john wayne and richard boone were friends..it probably made her uncomfortable..were they trading notes on her? As much as she gushed about john wayne..the two were never intimate offscreen. She doesn't want people to know she was a woman scorned behind the scenes of the movie Kangaroo. You can tell she's hiding something about herself.

Now then...the way she publicy dissed lawford and boone a long time after they were dead with some made up bullshit tells me one thing..her book was a rebuttal..along with other lies on other actors...a rebuttal to david rothel wonderfully written bio on boone..why was she so concerned? She was a star..why would she stoop so low? Boone was an up and coming actor when kangaroo was filmed in Australia..a woman acts like she does when she's hiding an intimate secret concerning herself ..lie on someone else to divert from her.

It's ok to venerate her..and put her on a pedestal...but you gotta remember..she is human and make mistakes..my thing is...when she wrote tis herself..why did she go so out of her way to viciously attack two actors lawford and boone in print?l woulda thought that she wouldn't waste her time..and if she was so classy..why mention them?
