How strange. Even as a child I resented many of her films strongly because she got degraded by men and even beaten in those, sometimes even under the pretense of it to be funny. Until this day I dislike "McLintock" and "The quiet man" plus other of her films very much for those disgusting scenes and don't watch them. In McLintock there is also violence and approval of violence against other women, and don't tell me that was appropriate or acceptable at the time those films came out. That would be nonsense. And the worst thing was, that her getting mishandled was the climax of the above mentioned films as a justification because her previous behavior. So several of her films showed uncriticized degrading of and violence against women. That is the contrary of a strong, independent women and the opposite of a role model.

Maureen O'hara was the only woman to completely own every movie she shared with John Wayne. In his other movies, one would struggle to name any female co-star but when it was Maureen O'hara, John Wayne's star power met its match. She was beautiful, smart, and fierce. John Wayne was good friends with her husband. She said in one interview that they were basically the same build great friends and when she walked away from the industry, it was after Wayne and the husband basically teamed up and expressed the opinion that it was time. If you ever get a chance, I recommend seeing the "making of The Quiet Man". In the scene where she slaps him, she meant it and Wayne knew she had hurt herself doing it and that night, he dragged her off to medical treatment. She had broken a bone in that hand.

What an extremely beautiful Woman Maureen O'Hara was. And the most handsome Gentleman legend that was John Wayne. They were the closest of friends always. What a blast they had in Ireland while making the movie The Quite Man.

I watched a movie on TV last night with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, so why is it showing up on my You Tube page today? Coincidence? I think not. My smart phone is listening.

Knott’s Berry Farm? My dad actually met John Wayne at Knott’s Berry Farm when he was a teen in the 70s. He also lived one street over from the back entrance to the park, and knew the Knott’s personally. That being said, my dad and I love John Wayne films. It was something that he and I always watched together. Drove my mother crazy.

They both filmed 'The Quiet Man' in County Galway. One scene of the train station, was filmed at Ballglunin railway station, near my mother's home place in Crumlin, Ballyglunin, Co. Galway, Ireland. It's unused now but still there in all its glory

“She’s married to one of the greatest pilots in the world and now she’s afraid to fly.” Her husband died when the small passenger sea plane he was piloting crash landed into the ocean after one of the engines failed. He and 3 of the passengers drowned. But what an absolutely delightfully beautiful lady she was!

I remember watching movies with Maureen O'Hara back when I was a young girl. My mom and I loved watching movies together. Maureen is absolutely gorgeous and so genuine and sweet. She is a genuine "movie star." She and John Wayne had a great chemistry acting together.

Her husband the last one she ever had was introduced to her by John Wayne. He was a great WWII pilot founded a island airline and died flying it. He and Wayne were good friends

John Wayne, was one of the countries greatest men in acting. His Loyalty to his country was unlike no other. His charisma on stage would mirror no other. He wanted to represent the good in man. The struggle in hardship, and the triumph in accomplishments. Oh, if he were here today, what would he have to say about our Country & Hollyweird. I wonder.. Was he one of them... Or was he forced to reason with demons. Silence, mums the word. regardless, He will be missed.

John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, what a magic couple they were on screen. One of my al time favourite movies was "The Quiet Man". Set in Connemara with such great actors as Barry Fitzgerald, Victor McLaglen, and Ward Bond and directed by John Ford. The one and only time I ever saw Maureen O'Sullivan in the flesh, was in or around 1987 in the foyer of the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. She was wearing a full length mink coat, with a vibrant green scarf. What a beauty she looked with her gorgeous red locks.............

Maureen O'Hara, john Wayne's equal on film and off. Total respect for each other. Loved both of them in all their movies together. McClintock, the quiet man, Big Jake...

Because Hollywood has always struggled to give parts to middle-aged actresses, Maureen O'Hara had a hard time getting work by 1970. But Duke put her in Big Jake. Duke was always putting friends, old and new, into his films. Notice in Big Jake that John Agar, who filmed Fort Apache with Duke and was down on his luck, was killed off in the beginning. A small role but some film work and a pay check.
