@@luwucian4497 It was bad or inadequate programming. Either way, having ED-209 show up to do a demonstration only to fail to recognize when the guy surrendered and dumped both its mags into him, is a HUGE reason OCP needs to STOP loading their prototypes with live ammo.

At the point you first encounter EUD en masse you know that hundred of people were killed and robbed of their brains for experiments by OCP. You have no idea why yet. And then you see all those EUDs and will likely jump to first assumption.

In theory, robocop is a failure. They only used his central nervous system to carry out ocp protocol. A portion of his brain was damaged and he legally died, so they were just using his brain as a donor and erased what memories were left. Ultimately, Murphys memory started bleeding through through

To be fair, its implied in the second movie that Robocop was basically a freak accident. Literally every attempt to recreate him ended in complete disaster.

Indeed it is as 'filipvadas7602' said. It's brought up across multiple continuities that it isn't that OCP doesn't want to make any more Robocops, it's that they can't. They essentially got lucky the first time and got something that MOSTLY worked (albeit not in the way he was meant to as 'prontopresto' rightly points out), but no matter what they do, they can't replicate that original success. In Robocop 2; if OCP was lucky, their Robocop II prototypes merely killed themselves, otherwise they got Robocain... The Live Action series would feature a scientist trying to get the secret to replicate Robocop, by trying getting him shut down and then autopsied, convinced that there was some biological factor in Murphy that made the process work. The only time Robocop has been successfully replicated was Robocable in the 'Prime Directives' miniseries and even in that, it took them over a decade from Murphy's activation before a second Robocop would be successfully brought online. But that continuity has OCP as still existing over a decade on from the original Robocop and Rogue City is following the movies, where OCP simply does not have that kind of time.

It was Alex Murphy's psychology and strength of his sense of identity. Essentially his sense of duty, and the pillars of identity were strong enough to survive the process. The problem the things that allowed Alex to pull through put him at odds with OCP, they couldn't put a paragon of virute into that chasis and have it survive mostly intact. Because even Alex barely survived going full borg.

I am certain both shown failures were functional robots by themselves. That getting human to control it was the difficult part that kept failing. Just replace human-originated bits with robot circuitry and result should be quite good.

A mentally unstable manipulative psychologist had the brain of a mentally unstable , psychopathic , drug addicted and violent druglord forcibly harvested against his will and implanted into a prototype machine . She "controlled" him by giving him enough drugs to OD an entire city and a flimsy remote that had a simple on/off button to keep him from being able to kill people . She did all this against the profressional advice of the project doctors and without informing the head of the company . OCP could do an absolutely shit job of a smear campaign and still come out smelling like roses with just that bare bones information .

@@CoolGobyFish production models... yes of course... but this? :D c'mon that's like straight up fraud... showing robocop and selling robocop 2 to the military :D not even ocp could get away with this... besides robocop 2 was also a prototype, i think. it's not like they had they assembly line already running and mass producing them. no... in all honesty; robocop 2 is such a bad machine... i think this is/was the main reason why i (maybe most people) never really got into the movie. can you imagine a really cool robocop 2? like really better, more agile, more and frightening weapons, maybe a dark look kind of robocop? i mean.. i see some of these ambitions in robo2... but boy did it turn out bad! :D maybe something they could maybe even make into a practical costume for awesome fight secenes? this would be so cool. instead we got this combination of a tv and a fridge wirth bad cgi, that even seen from a realistic/productino cycle/"let's enhance robocop to a new version" perspective totally sucks... :D haha

50/50 Both of two failed prototypes were unveiled long before their ready stage. Same goes for Murphy. Go look up Bob Morton's scenes. During first presentation Murphy could only stand up, barely. He didn't have any armor or even arms yet(at least from my memory of first movie). Problem is that Becker said "nah, it's fine as it is" with UED units when looking at chassis.

Robocop was №2. Same was RoboCain. Failed prototypes were №1. UED are №3. ED-209 is №4... somehow. Idk why it's in mass production. My only guess is that it's a bestseller with various dictators around the globe. In Robocop universe Tiananmen Square had probably seen first en masse use of ED-209...

If I was to play this game I would choose one political candidate and he has faced so much trauma over the years at the hands of Omni consumer products and his face several threats at the hands of the old man. I vote for Marvin Kuzack because he stands for the city of Detroit and I also like what he said in RoboCop 2 when it came to Delta City. He said and I quote you're going to tear down a lot of people's houses before you can make that thing and take away their homes. There won't be much room for neighborhoods huh? Not the kind we all grew up in what about democracy? Nobody elected you let me tell you there are a lot of people in this town who can't afford to buy your stock and they're not going to let you get away with this. The only thing I saw with the company known as ocp is nothing but a bunch of corporate scumbags who will drive people out of their homes just to create a city and the worst part is they use the existing Police Department to ensure that their mission is successful. I know people don't care much for RoboCop 3 but I applauded everything that the police department did for the citizens of Detroit because they stood for the rebels of Detroit because Cadillac Heights was their home and the only thing that was worse about the third film was when the company hired the rehabs to take families away to concentration camps long enough for them to be given a job to build a city even if it meant killing those innocent people but it all changed when RoboCop joined the rehabs and the reason why is because in one of his prime directives will always be to serve the public Trust, protect the innocent, and uphold the law and that also means directive 4 does not exist.
