Thanks for the video Tim! I definitely share your conviction to practicing and making slight alterations until I get it right. Watching your videos gives me ideas on how to get over some of my faults.

Thanks Robert! Happy you are having success at being a troubleshooter!

I’m sure we all have to troubleshoot our casting. I’m always taking video of myself, hoping I see something I can correct or do better. Watching your videos are encouraging as I know I’m not the only one trying to improve. I use to get a bit frustrated by not seeing the improvements come vs the time I put in. I’ve since had some success getting around boundaries and have come to be more patient knowing it’s not the destination it’s the beautiful journey.

At 10:25 you made a brief split second pause before your forward stroke and had one of your best casts. Maybe the old adage of slowing down is the key. When Im practicing I tend to get in a hurry when things are not going that well and then everything falls apart. I take a smoke break, relax, and get back to it then things seem to work a little better.

Bruce did show me how and when he bends his knee then leans into the foreword cast. I started to play with doing it then he caught me playing around with doing it. I think he had more than a few laughs as I looked like I was trying to walk for the very first time.

LOL yea he he turned me on to that too. I like to watch Travis Johnson and Gerard Downey on the Platform casting 18 foot rods put it into action where I can see it. Thanks for the comment buddy!

Nice one Tim! I have been casting a Bridge 67’ long belly and whenever I have that lower hand right out and straight (no slight bends) then into my drift the loops got tighter and tighter. The tolerances for every smooth transition from move to move is basically zero w long bellies. Keep it up man great vid showing ups and downs.

nice casting not a speycaster myself just underhand. One thing I learned from Göran though which I think applies to all casting styles is that you give the line time to move. So after you made the turn wait a bit for the long line to follow before you start your forward cast. Think the times you made a good cast you waited longer and when it was a bad cast you were a bit hasty. Nice vid m8 nice to see your progress. Am sure you start casting 200 ft in no time😉.

Lovely casting, but one question. When you use your lower hand to cast, why do you "push" with your upper hand? I want to sharpen my casting and get a tighter loop. Does it make any difference if you like follow with the upper hand? Thank YOU for everything you do on KZbin, i learn so much. Best regards!

Great question!

Well, you actually kinda pull down with your top hand and then push forward, but yes you always have to get the top hand involved, absolutely. It takes experimentation with the line and rod combo you are casting.

Zack Williams show a more relaxed body language of all casters, lot of weight shifting and higher finish stop, love the style. Tim you are trying to process to much info in a short complex move, perhaps you should master one piece at the time and not all in one, be your self, don’t copy other casters moves, after all there is no much of the difference in feet’s from the best first 5 casters. We need a Tom Brady or someone who can put a big consistent difference numbers in the casting pond. I think we all are copy from each other and consequently we can not have our T B. One last thing 🙂 You did a single spiral set up and your bottom hand did what I don’t see on your single, witch is moving your bottom hand and getting slightly ahead of the top hand for the anchor placement and also you body moves, it totally relaxed and changed on that spiral setup cast. But as soon you went back to a single Spey, you stiff up… Any way, always easy to learn talk from my desk. But good to watch you cast and share your thoughts. Best channel on the platform to any level IMO 👏👏👏 best Mag
