Loved your review Jeff! This book looks beautiful. A real labour of love by the publisher and author. I’ve aways been a fan of Malini and his magic. As soon as I can afford it I’m getting it. Thanks for posting!

Great review, You covered this well. One thing I strongly agree with is how entertaining this book is to read. The arrangement, the quips and anecdotes, the carefully designed illustrations, photos, and use of white space all make it a fun book to read. I was a little worried it would be dry, but it is far from that.

Great review. I’m disappointed that there is so much missing. I opted for the Deluxe Edition and it should be delivered early next week. They told me it shipped on Friday. I’m interested to see the differences. They told me I had to pay extra shipping on top of the double the price because to was so much more than the standard edition. Where can I find out more about Malini to answer the questions you posed? Thank you.

Hey Scott, thanks for the comment/question. You'll have to let me know about the difference with the deluxe edition...I haven't seen it. 🤷♂️ As far as I know, the questions may never be answered. This is the most definitive book on Malini out there, but the questions may be like answering "who is Erdnase?" The more time goes by without knowing, the less likely it is that we'll get a satisfactory answer. But, we'll keep talking about them because they're people who lived interesting [and secretive] lives.

Hi Scott, you'll have to tell me if there are any differences in the Deluxe Edition. As best I can tell, it is signed and numbered and has a special crafted slipcase. However, the website doesn't seem to indicate any additional information. Let me know if you can.

@@dougclark4146 the guy at Squash that I spoke to said it is double the weight which is why shipping is double. The book is also almost double in height and wider. I’ll let you know when I get it.

Dear Jeff, thank you. This was very erudite - for Homer Simpson (kidding). In regards to your questions, they are partially answered in David Ben’s article on Malini, published in Genii in 2013.

L&L reprinted Lewis Ganson's Malini Book. The original version was actually published by Harry Stanley in the UK. Those rights were then acquired by the Supreme Magic Company. L&L ultimately got the rights to the Malini book and the other Dai Vernon books ghostwritten by Ganson and did the most recent set of reprints.
