I couldn't help but crack up laughing when I heard the voiceover comparison. Bless the GBA's heart for trying, but it sounded like that Space Ghost episode when he had a speaker attached to his head to broadcast his thoughts. Great video!!

This has nothing to do with this particular video, I've just discovered your channel and I've enjoyed all your videos. I noticed you keep your Sega CD games in blue DVD cases. I also put my Sega CD games into DVD cases with the aid of the Cover Project; however, your games looked so good in the blue cases, you inspired me to buy some blue cases for my Sega CD games. Thanks for the great videos; keep up the good work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

So, you finally played an Xbox game...you picked a good one! Glad to see you in my sub feed again, you've been sorely missed.
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
Good to BE back in sub feeds again! Speaking of, I've got a load of yours to catch up on, eager to check out your LotR vids, played the crap out of Two Towers and dipped my toe in on The Hobbit when it was first out. We need to catch up soon, let's set something up!

Loving the noir stuff at the start. You scripted that well. Noir style can be tricky to write. Too little and it sounds almost serious, too far and it becomes farcical. You got it right on the Max Payne serious but a little silly level there. Never played the GBA version. I think I just couldn't imagine it working but recently I've seen a few people mention it. Might have to hunt for a copy. Good to have you back yo. Also, thank you for the shoutout at the end there! Didn't expect that. Super appreciated!
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ant! Shame though that I didn't realize KZbin had cut the annotations out and only support the end slate thing in the last 20 seconds of the vid otherwise I could have properly displayed the link off to your Spider-Man vid.
@MellowGaming6 жыл бұрын
@@GamevsGame The whole 20 seconds only thing is a pain. Not enough time to really say much over your end slate really. They ditched Annotations over a year ago now I think. I liked them. Let you have proper video clips as links and stuff. End slates are quicker to implement though.

Max payne gba is so good that I've replayed it several times. On purpose. Lol.

Man you can really hear the GBA grunting and panting, trying to process all of this. Still, that's an amazing conversion and I love seeing developers push the system's limits like this. Not to mention the music sounds awesome in that chiptuney form.

Never knew this was on the GBA. Excellent video to come back with. I noticed your game room has come along will you do a tour of it in a future video?
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin! Yeah I'd like to, but still have a long way to go on it. The game wall is up but I'm still on the lookout for the right solution to get all my systems hooked up along with the Mac and the Elgato to record and stream, as well as seating and storage. So one side looks good, the other is pretty bland at the moment.

I was always curious about the GBA version, and it looks like they really did a solid job. Also, with the Game Boy Player, the Select button is nicely mapped to X or Y, so I do wonder if the Painkiller being set to Select was made with that in mind
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
That's a great point, didn't think about that!

This was really interesting! I admire the ambition of Max Payne on the GBA, beats the usual conversions. I'm a bit gutted about the PS2 version sounding bad though, as I don't have an OG Xbox to play it :(
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
That is a bummer, but on the plus side it's only like $5-$7 so not a huge bust if the frame rate drops are too unbearable

Good stuff! Always loved the game and the GBA port was solid in my mind. Now try Town Hawk 2 on the GBA and prepare for a bad isometric port haha

It always annoyed me how people didn't know Max Payne was in development way before I even knew what the Matrix was. I used to have a computer games magazine that had development stuff about it, but unfortunately got stolen way back.
@GamevsGame6 жыл бұрын
That was always my assumption when it first came out, just cashing in on the cool slow-mo from The Matrix, obviously later came to know it's development history. That would be cool to get deeper into, shame someone took it. Do you remember the name of the magazine, there's loads of magazine PDFs floating around out there.

Using select is easier if use any other model of the gba. The SP has that nice screen but ergonomically it’s total trash If you’re comfortable with the micro I’d recommend that, or a modded original model with backlit screen. It feels so much better

I wish Rockstar didn't have the Licence. Now they did a bullshit game with Max Payne 3. The 1&2 were amazing, especially on PC and the GBA one, a good surprise. But the third, super lame. Alan Wake was more like Max Payne than Max Payne 3 that I will never talk about anymore
