I’m pretty sure we have one of these props on our Irwin 68, and the control it gives us in reverse makes handling the big boat without a bow thruster a real pleasure.

We have had a 2 bladed Maxprop for over 10 years. The reverse power is excellent compared to a fixed pitch. Remember though to fully charge the hub with the correct grease every haulout.

Unfortunately, no the design of the Max-Prop would not function in a Surface drive application. I am sorry we are unable to assist.

@@PYIinc we wish to conduct joints R&D to combine your prop hub technology with ESD surface piercing and supercavitating propeller blades. We have the data for prop blades development butvwe dont have your hub prop hub technology...can we do collaboration...

Just out of curiosity, what application would you need a feathering surface drive propeller for? To my understanding (I admit I am a landlubber from a landlocked state) surface drives are typically for very high speed planing craft, while feathering props are useful on sailboats. I would also suspect that a surface drive could probably be rigged up to lift the prop out of the water if for some reason you needed to, that being a better solution than feathering. I'd think a feathering surface-drive would be quite challenging technically as the blade feathering pivot would have to endure the repeating shock load of the blade piercing the surface, not a problem with fully immersed propellers.
