to be fair Harada himself said before T8 even came out that the first season would not contain any guest characters at all and that was hard locked. so that doomed at least a year of potential guest character speculation.

@@Mene0 He did an interview about that recently. when he said Heihachi was completely dead it was the standpoint of the Tekken team to have him truly be permanently dead. but they discovered while making Tekken 8 that with various metrics showing the popularity of the character, the willingness of people to have him back, and Tekken's 30th anniversary coming up, they thought everything could line up in a way to make it a good move. He truly intended not to bring him back but things just worked out in favor of him returning and not just staying dead.

Lucy unironically is a VERY fitting character to plop into the GG universe while still being unique at the same time. Her artistic aesthetic, choice of weapon, and pure VIBES is a perfect blend for a strive character. I'm also just imagining the references to other Edgerunners she might make during gameplay. Knowing Arc System Works they're gonna pay close attention to detail.

I would agree but technically... all types of modern tech is banned on the world of Guilty Gear (hence why it looks both modern, yet very few use tech that isnt powered by magic) so I have no clue how Lucy could even exists I am willing to be surprise, but they deffo need to pull on some strings REALLY hard to make her existing in a world were people despise tech so much without it being "she just spawned here one day like an Isekai"

@@EzKay_PX Not really, there's plenty of stories with outlier characters like that which go against the status quo. Makes for more interesting perspectives too in my opinion when a common narrative gets challenged. I could see GG making an original character that is technology based eventually.

I'm 99% sure they only picked Lucy out of the cast because she's the hottest. David and Rebecca both fit better imo. Lucy was the hacker of the team. Fighting wasn't really her thing. She's got a monowire and that's cool but none of her hacking powers would even really work on people in the GG world. Meanwhile David and Rebecca have all sort of combat implants and weapons.

i made the mistake and checked reddit after the anouncement and was baffled. Most people seemed to be extremely angry that a guest character is coming to Guilty Gear and comments like "they would pay extra money not to have Lucy in the game". I was really surprised by that, like do they hate their own game so much that they don't want it to succeed? This will bring new players to the game and fund the next seasons or even the next game. I don't get it.
