Every character is resolving their past struggles in GGST. It feels very final lore wise. Even ABA got marriage therapy. Aside from maybe Sin since he's a baby, and whatever Faust and Bed had become. Most past characters are a grown, better version of themselves or "final form" in lore.

@@evilded2 It's different approaches, but I find both fascinating. Strive's direction in animation is very clean, polished and can show off subtle expressions. It's very hard hard to pull off, but says so much. Hoyoverse (at least from everything I've seen in ZZZ) emphasises over-animation. Characters are always moving and bounce around with a ton of frames while transitioning alongside a dynamic UI. It makes for a bombastic energy and power-fantasy I've not seen replicated in a similar manner, and I can't deny it's effective. Just look at some of the cutscenes or trailers. In terms of character-design, both are really effective at what they do, but I will give Guilty Gear an edge because I find the variety in character design more unique. When you try to make a waifu/husbando out of everyone, it can make some designs unintentionally homogenous (I don't see a character like Faust or Bedman existing in such a game). In terms of UI-aesthetic, ZZZ is kinda mindblowing. So they both have their strengths.

They know the majority of the playerbase who knows of the IKs wants them back and they've definitely acknowledged it as you've stated. They have said they would be really costly and time consuming with the animation style they use. My guess would be a year after the final season they'll be implemented after everything is finished

I also think it answers the question a lot of people keep asking about Undine and Necro(Dizzy's wings) redesign. Like just knowing why Dizzy has those wing guardians in the first place, and seeing her grow up into a strong queen, it makes sense they are no longer the focal point of her character, as much as they used to be.

I think he's been letdown by Capcom's attempts too much, and this sorta tone isn't Max's thing. I however, love it. It's the only series in the genre besides KOF anymore that lets characters get arcs and evolve drastically. Something like Bedman in Strive would never happen in MK or Tekken, they'd just get revived and act like nothing happened.

A couple characters got new moves with the last patch, so the big standout was chipp, for sure. They're definitely building out combo conversions with the buffs in here. Test got a ton of changes past patch and now they're making throw pop stain. That's now gonna be a menace, but last patch got the mad changes to arbiter sign, teleport, and auto times safe jumps off throws. A lot of characters, it's stuff like that

Funnily enough, most of that stuff isn't even new. The stuff with j.D ground bounce and j.S vacuum was added in a minor patch in late July The only new stuff people noticed is that the head bomb error travels further/tracks to the opponent and the startup of the install is reduced (BTW the combo they showed can already be done in the current version) There's 3 ways to explain why it's like this 1) All of the changes they're making to Bedman are things that wouldn't look super flashy for the trailer, like improvements to frame data and other things that would be hard to visually convey 2) They just decided not to show off more of those flashy changes for no real reason or 3) Bedman is just getting royally screwed in the patch compared to everyone else (obviously I'm hoping it's not this one)

Dizzy may seem safe but if she doesn't require meter or a double tap to freeze she will be the most scary character in the game Michael sword and freeze let's her push combo dmg or set play and oki. People will have to play on the defensive also in some way get into dizzy's face and aggro her to keep anything from starting but she has a close range ice move too so she's already playing mind games

The question of old Gatlings coming back is definently silly to ask for by this point, but I definently wouldn't say the same about Instant Kills. The developers constantly entertain the question whenever it's brought up, I think it's clear they want to do them it's just that they're going to be a huge amount of work when they're already putting in so much as it is. I think we'll see them by the end of the games life span tho, it's not like they were ever that core to the gameplay of +R or Xrd either, I think they'll fit into Strive fine. Unika is the antagonist of the new anime coming up, she's a brand new character but she was announced at EVO with the rest of the season, and even before that she was shown with the teaser trailer for the anime. There are many reasons to believe she'll be connected to Dizzy and Justice in some way. She has red eyes, her appearance in the EVO trailer referenced a shot from Guilty Gear Missing Links Justice cutscene, and she also has a patch of blue hair in the shape of an X which gives me big Dizzy vibes, Dizzy being the boss of Guilty Gear X. All we know about Unika so far is that she hates Gears, in the anime she is apparently going to crash Ky and Dizzy's wedding which will lead to a fight between her and Sin who is now the main protag Speaking of protag Sin, that song that was in the balance trailer was actually a new Sin vs Ky theme! And my guess is that it might be used as the intro for the anime cuz it sounds very anime-y. There are a lot of really crazy changes in that trailer. Leos back turn special is safer on block, Ram can send her sword toss diagonally down which GUARD CRUSHES, Goldlewis can BT cancel at the cost of security gauge, Faust can launch his items (including afro now) even after they've landed on the ground using the golf club (before he could only hit them in the air with the bat), A.B.A danzai has heavy counterhit, Pots Buster has ARMOR, Sols 5k got made 5 frames but HMC got reworked into a 100 meter nuke like Slayers super, Nago can just straight up cash out off of blood pop if he wants, this patch is nutty

James Chen makes a compelling argument as to why traditional gatlings would suck in Strive. It's balanced around the huge counter hits. To stop people from OSing cancels that occur only on CH, they added delayed gatling cancels. So whether or not you land a CH, you can still cancel from one move to another even if you input it late. Now imagine traditional gatlings together alongside delayable strings. The game would become extremely frame trap heavy. Maybe some people would be down with that, but I think it was a reasonable call to decide that it would be detrimental to a lot of people. Also, I like that the reward off light normals is restricted. However, I do think that traditional gatlings should come back for air normals. One of the few areas where I will totally agree with the Strive haters is that air combos suck in this game.

It's a move that kills you in a single hit, the game was never really designed around them and no fighting game should be. If it's just a cool thing in the game that has no competitive application, it's just a cool demonstration of the game's peak visuals and personality, Strive does feel like a black sheep without it I have no clue why the devs aren't putting them in

Is GG strive a direct continuation of the story? Watched a video a while back on some story I thought some people lost their powers ect.

yes, its set 2-ish weeks or so after xrd some characters (mainly sol and arguably faust) do lose their powers but they all happen within strives storyline context
