It’s easy to look at Hamilton’s move to Merc and think it could easily happen again with Max, but if you look historically, there has been way more bad moves like this than good ones. From the top off my head i can think of Ricciardo to Mclaren or some of Alonso’s moves over the years. But, everyone starts fresh in 2026, could be very interesting if the move happens.

I agree with everything said in this video actually. Of course it's unlikely, but I think it's more possible than some people may think. Another side to it: Max always says that he's not too bothered about breaking records and that he'll stay in F1 as long as he enjoys it - and tbh I believe him. He seems to be loving his time at Red Bull now, but if he gets bored of the team I don't think it's out of the question for him to jump ship to a currently slower team that has clear potential to be better in the new regs (and has shown prescedence for doing so in the past). Also, I think of Max as a driver who wants to do just that - drive (polar opposite to Lewis who I also like). While it's impossible to completely avoid team politics in F1, if it gets too crazy with the Horner situation, Max could join Merc purely to get away from all the drama and focus on his driving.

If, and it's a huge if, Verstappen were to leave, I would push to get Sainz to replace Pérez, and try to get Alonso in Verstappen's car. Then, depending on his early F2 performances, try to poach Antonelli from Mercedes as a longer-term prospect and stick him in for 2025 at RB.

This year have started wildly. Lewis to Ferrari. Red Bull is in full chaos with multiple things going on. Max to Mercedes (sceptical) and then Alpine with people leaving left and right. Silly season have not even began fully. Alonso to Red Bull.....hmmmm......

Christian obviously has a thing for Ricciardo and it's hard to see them putting Yuki in the seat given he's basically only there because of Honda. It's also hard seeing them putting Yuki in that seat after the nonsense he pulled after the race in Bahrain. Although even as a fan of Daniel I don't think he really deserves the Red Bull spot

Not the same scenario, but Vettel visited Maranello and signed a pre-contract with Luca di Montezemolo days after winning in Brazil in 2012. If Verstappen were to leave Red Bull for a full works team in anticipation of 2026, it would make total sense. Remember how much Red Bull was plagued by Renault from 2014 to 2018 with the best aero and chassis (by their wins in non-power sensitive tracks)

They don't even mention Verstappen when talking about challenging Red Bull anymore, only Perez. Because they know with Verstappen behind the wheel they're not catching him. Wolff was heaping on the praise all weekend too. During an interview, Toto Wolff said: “I think Max is not in a different league, but is in a different galaxy. The performance is extraordinary.” Asked if he felt that pointed to Red Bull winning all the races, Wolff said: “Unfortunately yes. You just need to just acknowledge his performance levels are really very strong.”

⁠​⁠the reality is it’s a personal vendetta by Jos…. He wants Horner fired. He is behind i all, the complaint to RB, the leaks to Telegraaf AND the emails with the messages to all press and FIA and F1? And why does Jos hate Horner so much? Cos Jos is dating Horners former PA… and Horner advised her to not start relationships with Jos…. Jos and that Fiona woman together made the complaint to RB, then Jos kept leaking info to Telegraaf, even orchestrated the emails to all press and FIA, F1 during FP2. Its all JOS. Only aim is to damage Horner and get him fired. He doesn’t care that it’s damaging Max’ season, team, RBR, RB, sponsors, even Fiona is dragged through the mud with it… it’s all Jos. And still Jos is talking to press to damage Horner and force RB to fire him. Jos even went to Toto to ask if there’s a seat available so he can have leverage to force RB to fire Horner “or else Max leaves to Merc”…. And all this WITHOUT MAX’ APPROVAL. Jos must be blocked by Max, RBR and RB before he does even more damage. The whole paddock knows this.

If I’m Redbull and the 2% that max leaves for Mercedes I would not resign Perez and would get rid off Ricardo and yuki from vcarb then would promote Lawson and sign kimi Antonelli on a 2+2 year contract to vcarb While at Redbull would sign Sainz to a 3+1 year deal and Alonso to a 1+1 In that time you could give Antonelli his first year to be a rookie and make mistakes and second year to improve While in that time Fernando Would most likely win his 3 championship in 2025 with that car and give him 1 year in the new regulation to see if he wants to continue racing and you would have Sainz maybe challenge Fernando and being the leader after he leaves and before kimi development

I personally can't help but think the most likely choices for RB would wind up being all the drivers that jumped ship because of Max. With how they went back to save Danny, Sainz, Albon, and Gasly could all be on the table for a return to RB. Just as Max fucked the pipeline when he joined it, him leaving would do the same thing.

I feel it's happening. Like is there actually any way it's not? Jos clearly don't want Horner in Red Bull. Newey stated long time ago, that he won't be there if Horner isn't. So they would lose Adrian pushing Horner out. Maybe even Max has a clause that if Horner leaves he can leave right away. To me it seems Jos wants to get out of RB to Merc and this is how he's creating way out by force.

Fully prepared to eat my words but I just can't see that happen. RBR is lined up to have a dominant car for 2024 and 2025. As it stands right now, I don't see any reason for the risk of RBR bottling the PU in 2026 to be bigger than of Mercedes to fail their aero-package again. As you mentioned yourself: RBR has Adrian Newey who seems to be the Max Verstappen of engineers right now and I believe that counts for a lot. Also I just can't imagine that Max doesn't have a hefty performance clause in his contract by now that allows him to leave early if RBR doesn't deliver. All in all I don't really believe there is a results-related argument for Max to switch teams and I also don't think his personal brand will be affected too much by the Horner-affair as long as he keeps his mouth shut.

It's pretty clear that the most recent regulation change was deliberately designed to, at the very least, heavily benefit Red Bull. It's arghable if it was also to hinder Mercedes. But, it's well known that ground-effect aerodynamics was one of Adrian Newey's specialities and that Red Bull aero was some of, if not the best on the grid. I wonder if the 2026 regs will end up favoring a specific teams strengths in the same way.
