There's one thing holding this game back. Xbox One exclusivity. I'm one of their potential audiences who will never touch the game because I have no intention of buying next gen consoles. And while its hard to say exactly how many people think this same way, I think we can agree that this number is not insignificant amongst those who do play fighting games.

Justin always tries to play games so differently. Like in Third Strike, he'd play keep-away in a game that centers around rush-down. Now, in a game focussed around combos, he goes for odd resets and throws constantly. I think that's because he hasn't learned about all the intricacies of KI yet.

Throws > rushdown, and resets > Combo breaker-happy opponents. This is why Justin is always on a different level of playing compared to others who follow the "focus" of the game.

edwiniseman4 That's obviously not always the case, my dear. That would make Thunder the top of top tiers in this game. But as you can see if you played this game, Thunder can dish out damage, but you can handle him as you would with any other character. I'm not sure if you understand meta but there is a reason why people don't go for throws and resets as much.

I saw from the very first seconds that Justin's play is completely different from the average... it's wonderfully sophisticated. I even perceived the mind games playing out, with the principle example being the incomplete combo break to bait the counter breaker at 2:26. It feels like enlightenment to know that I am able to notice things like this now, even though I don't even have this game (or an XB1). Please bring more of this with professional players, Max! I'm loving it!

Yeah, he just doesn't do long extended combos just to get his by combo breaker. Normally, people just mix-up the linkers so they won't get combo break, Justin is being more advanced and just ends combos mid-way and doing resets. That's PROBABLY how the pro-level is going to end up.

I did notice that he didn't use very many moves as Sabrewulf though. Mainly the leap attack, the eclipse and grab. No under the legs moves, charge-up move etc.

You press P+K at the strength you want to break. So if they're hitting you with a medium attack, you must hit MP+MK. If you guess wrong, you will get locked out for a few seconds (ie you are free).

WiNGSPAN TT I think you're explaining Combo Breakers instead of Counter Breakers. Counter Breakers are done by beginning a combo and then bluffing by using Medium Punch + Medium Kick and then if your opponent tries to Combo Break you, you automatically break their Combo Breaker with a Counter Breaker and can continue with a combo. Right?

Justin's Style of play is so unique, he's incredibly unpredictable exactly what this game requires for a successful player, his short but sweet combos as keep the damage packing and the match fresh. i always thought Max to be more of a Jago player, i mean...Ninja XD

Max, Its not that Justin knows its that long combos just like they were from the first KI are the easiest way to get bodied. Just keep it simple. Damage and get in and get out and know the fundamentals. Justin is too experienced in fighting games he just gets it and I love watching this guy . Good games men.

i haven't gotten the chance to play this game yet but from what it looks like it discourages long damaging combos. it looks like short and simple combos seems to be the most effective with a great footsy game. that way everyone has a even playing ground. i think its a great game so far

Yeah, you really have to bait out the super long combos by getting counter breakers or get lucky with them choosing wrong on the combo breakers. Or throwing in manuals (which will happen more as people get experienced) to really throw off timing.
