@@mariothingyi think it’s maybe got to do with the area. in america obviously finding old coins like that is insane but in europe that kind of thing would be much easier to find given the large scale population. it’s still a very cool find just not worth anything over there unless it’s in superb condition or somehow very rare

I used a metal detector in my backyard once. Found a 15th century 3 pounder cannonball. My back yard is like a 150 square meter area. _Metal detectors are amazing._

(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

Great video, as always! Metal detecting is a lot of fun and this looks very well organised with a nice bunch of guys but it's not all treasure, this is also archaeology. Sadly, as an archaeologist I've seen sites destroyed by reckless detectors. Would be great if you included something about how archaeologists and metal detecting work together.

I feel like this is a great metaphor for life. You start with going on an adventure, out in the world to look for treasures with purpose. Some do find things worth a pretty penny, but most of us just end up with a pile of shit. But what matters is the joy we got from finding these worthless trinkets, with our mates.

It’s not conductivity but density and magnetic (ferrous) properties that makes the difference in the tone. As far and metal detecting riches….you NAILED it! The people who get rich from metal detecting….are the people selling the metal detectors!

Amongst the funniest scenes I have witnessed was my brother burying a long row of tin cans on Weymouth beach for an unknowing & advancing detectorist. They unearthed some great comedy. I think that random bloke telling them no digging on this film was a good stunt too.
