My friend @martymorissette and I take advantage of unusually warm early April weather and get our first paddle of the season in. We paddle the Dumoine River in Quebec from the bridge crossing at km 25 back to Ontario.

Hi Max, great to see you back, really great imagery and, especially, the legends for the the birds. As a UK birder, but knowing little of your Canadian fauna this is a god send, as seeing a bird and not knowing what it is, is just frustrating. Also, as an aside, good to see you making real videos and not swanning around on a sunny beach on holiday pretending to 'survive' the 'hardship' like someone else I can think of. Keep it up and keep the labels coming. Best wishes.

Hey, NQU! How have you been? The hammock is fantastic - As with anything, it has its compromises, but I'm hoping to get my hands on one myself sooner or later... You're not the only one asking for patches to make an appearance in a video (our grandma Marge included). I gotta bug Xander about it! Cheers and hope you've been well!

Hello, Pam! Thank you for stopping by! Thank you also for the feedback on labeling the birds - I worries that the text might be visually distracting, but it's nice to know people enjoy it so I'll keep doing it. And yes, we always assure my mother that we are being safe - the most important thing is that we keep a satellite emergency device that has a gps tracker - so if anything were to go wrong, family members would be able to see exactly where we travelled. All the best and thank you again!

In Denmark we often used fondue for New Year's Eve back in the 80s, instead of sauce we used oil or red wine. Denmark got the idea from southern Europe.

I think any canoe that gets you on water to make content is a great canoe. It looks nicely kitted, shorter than your yellow canoe? Rockered, bow and stern floatation, you gearing for more white water trips? I respect your approach to river running. You always seem very calm and deliberate. Paddle on!

Did the Dumoine when I was much younger, late 1990s. Great river, loved it. The Pocket Canyon is on my radar. I have 2 dedicated solo canoes now, but both have ~11" clearance between seat and floor. At age 72, getting my size 11 feet in and out of the kneeling position is a challenge, as is my feet going to sleep. Do you happen to know the seat to floor dimension for the Pocket? Just subscribed. Also what is the name of Marty's channel? I would like to check it out too.

I don't really think about it since it's such a simple piece of gear, but I've been using it forever. It broke a while back (after several years of use), I fixed with some snare wire, and now I'm still using it. It's simple, robust, and I find the compact hard carrying case adds to making it a pleasure to use. I recommend it, but because it's worked so well for me, I haven't really compared it to much else so far... Cheers and thanks for watching!
