The tools mentioned above didn't work for my Stihl BG86 Blower - 2021 version. Apparently, Stihl has changed the adjustment screws to octogon (8 sides) instead of the 4mm Hex some people have mentioned and that is included in the kit listed above. Your fix for the "Stihl That Won't Rev Up" really made a huge difference, but I still want the right adjustment tool and have not found definitive and consistent information. Do you have any advice?

This helped me finally get my Stihl BG55 back to its full potential. I had tried the spark plug, new air filter, fuel filter, made sure my spark arrestor was whistle clean and was about to get my small engine neighbor guy involved, who is a good guy but is no "Steve's Small Engine Saloon". I was having that bog-down symptom that mimics the clogged spark arrestor. The trick was to pop that limiter cap off the high side adjust and to know that to make that adjustment, you need to have the motor running at full speed while making the adjustment. And also to always have the blower tube on and clean air filter. The manual for the blower is virtually useless and fairly unclear to the layman. Simple things like this are priceless. It's that simple, low side is at idle, high side is at full speed, turn back and forth until you hit the sweet spot! Thanks Steve. I'd drink any brand beer with you! And I owe you one...so I clicked subscribe.

Just tuned my BG55 for the first time in 14 years of ownership, with the help of this video. It wouldn't rev all the way up after yesterday's carb replacement and wouldn't idle and choke. The spark arrestor screen looked pretty clean so all it needed was a little adjustment for the high speed screw and idle. Thank you for the effort that you put into these videos!!

Got a BG56 second-hand cheap wouldn't start, thanks to Steve I got it up and running in no time. Fitted a new Carbie and it was not the issue it turned out to be blocked muffler arrest screen, I removed it then heated it up with a butane gas torch then blew it out with compressed air, now works gr8.. My after market Carbie not the best might swap it over with original. For those who need a rough setting to get the unit running the H was around one and half turns back from wound full in, ("Don't force it tight or risk breaking the needle"), the L is one turn back from fully wound in then u can start it, allow it to warm up like Steve said before fine tuning.. The L will usually do up a little to get it right and the H well that just like Steve said go both ways till to judge the sweet spot... Great Videos Steve you make things so easy and explain it well, cheers....

Steve, This adjustment video worked great on my 15 year old BG55 that finally died last week. I ordered the Hipa full carburetor kit on Amazon and installed it today. Ran okay for a minute then died like it was out of gas with a 3/4 full tank of VP 50-1 premix ethanol free gas. Waited 15 mins then restarted with same results twice more. I found this video and after a few adjustments you recommended my blower runs great and fired up nicely each time. The Hipa kit was less than $20 compared to a $60 diagnosis fee from my local shop plus parts… they estimated $70 for a new carb plus labor. Where do I buy you a six pack of beer buddy? Rick in Northern California… land of the battery operated garden power tools from now on… Geesh! I’ll never switch over from my gas machines.

Steve, you do the best job of explaining and demonstrating how to adjust the carburetor of any video or written explanation or demonstration that I have found. You have always organized what you are going to say, and you explain it clearly without a bunch of extra words. It's frustrating to watch many videos by other people where they are saying "Look at this...." and their arm or body is blocking our view of the "this", or where the lighting is terrible or the camera out of focus. You don't have music. I love good music but not in instructional videos, and besides what I consider good music often doesn't include what the video uses. None of these criticisms apply to you and your videos. They are clear, precise, and we can see what you show us.

Thank you so much sir! I have owned my BG55 for about 8 years. I use it mostly to blow off 2 commercial zero turn mowers. It had worked flawlessly until last week. The primer bulb started leaking so I replaced it. I could prime it and it would start but wouldn't keep running.. It would continue to run as long as I kept priming it. I ordered a carb....it came in today. I installed it right away. It started and ran on the second pull but stopped running after about 30 seconds at full throttle. I FOUND THIS VIDEO! I FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTIONS. It runs perfect now! It has more power now than ever before. So again.....THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! You sure make that beer look good.......makes me thirsty

Thanks for the top, great. My BG50 blower, just 5 months did not run on high revs with full throttle. When starting with choke and put choke back it almost dies. After starting and putting the choke half way it runs but not max. revs. Brought it to Stihl dealer yesterday. Today they phoned it was ready. Costs $50 for they fitted a carburator kit for the petrol was "old". The new blower was used once a month for 10 minutes, so in total till now 50 minutes to blow the drive way. Still have to collect it, I have guarantee and it is just a screw what you showed in minutes to adjust!!!

I’ve been struggling with Stihl carburetors on everything I own- blower, chainsaw, string trimmer. Between the ethanol problems and bad gas I’d almost given up on them. I’ve been watching yours and other channels on cleaning and adjusting pumper carburetors and this weekend I got everything running… with the help of VP premix, ethanol free gas. Btw, my Stihl blower hi speed adj.indicated 3/4 turn out but it would hardly run. I finally pulled the restrictor collar off and had to turn the hi speed screw almost a full turn more before it ran correctly! Thanks

I always love it when guys are willing to help others out vs just trying to make a sell. I have this exact blower and after 7-8 years of flawless operation it doesnt want to start. If i can get it going it will only run at full speed. At idle itll die and its extremely tough to get going. High and low speed adjusents didnt fix it. I disassembled everything, being the carb, spark arrestor, etc. Cleaned the plug, cleaned some carbon off the top of the piston, cleaned the carburetor needle and all. Still suffers from same problem. Fuel filter looked clean, couldnt find any broke or torn fuel lines. Air filter a bit dirty but same problem when i took it off. Im struggling to find an oem carb replacement and i found hundreds of knockoffs. Not sure if this is my option now since the bg55 has been discontinued but for under $20 i feel like its worth a try. If it runs i will definitely use your carb adjusting knowledge. From the factory mine had a very cold start but always started and was trouble free after it warmed up until now. This was the first year i slacked off on running stabil in it and i feel like i paid the price in both my stihl weed eater and blower. Its weird though as they were both running and after my last tank of gas i got both engines were having problems. Could be coincidence.

@07slowbalt, did you fix your blower, if so, what was the remedy?
@07slowbalt
@07slowbalt 4 жыл бұрын
@@emmams5 i did fix it in a very untraditional way but first let me explain. I went ahead and bought a knockoff carb and tune up kit and replaced EVERYTHING. It worked for about 2 weeks and fell out of tune over and over and no matter what i did high and low speed adjustments did nothing. The fix was easy, after 10 min of yanking on the cord in the summer heat i smashed the blower into the pavement over and over and threw it into the trash. I was over the aggrevation you could say. I opened up amazon and bought a Milwaukee (M18) blower and havent looked back. Its trouble free and has plenty of power for my needs. I live in the woods and can typically blow all the leaves with 3ct, 5ah batteries that i have plenty of. Obviously i could benefit from an 8-12 ah battery but i have tons of the 5s on supply. This blower has never let me down, and i never thought getting gas and mixing oil was a big deal til i didnt have to do it anymore. Its one less hassle in my life and it feels awesome. Anyone with a subdivision home would greatly appreciate this blower. Larger properties could still benefit from a gas blower but ive managed to get by on electric with 1.5 acres of lawn/leafs and a 500ft driveway.

Super nice, I'll clean it up and give the carb a tune up and get a new plug for it and it'll be all set for me to use with my small mowing business. I love it when people sell their stuff for cheap when they can't fix it so I can fix it myself and reap the benefits hehehehe. If you're handy, never buy new. At least that's how I see it 😁

Finally!! A proper video on how to properly adjust blower carbs, I have this Husqvarna 125BVX blower which I bought from brand new and has never run how it should. First it overheated from the lean mixture setting on the carb from the factory, I was advised on using ASPEN 2T petrol (ready mixed 50:1) which seemed to run even worse. I have since used this method and it runs perfectly but slightly on the hot side but that's ok. *FOR ANYBODY USING ASPEN 2T PETROL*.......... Use Steve's method + *ON THE HIGH SIDE SCREW* OPEN it (counter clockwise) until the rpms just start to fall and turn it back the slightest but not until it is running its fastest because it runs too hot, *ON THE LOW SIDE SCREW* Do the exact same but TURN IT BACK TO THE SWEET SPOT( The spot it runs the fastest) Then your blower should be running perfectly! This works mainly for Husqvarna blowers but it has worked on many of Stihl's I have had in the workshop. I sincerely hope this helped those who are using ASPEN 2T Petrol, thanks again to Steve for the great video!!

I enjoy all of your videos...I have stihl products...chainsaw, leaf blower, weed eater. You videos are very informative, easy to follow and of course I love your signature of a cold beer w/ every video. I am a bit of a self made chef and that too is my signature...a cold beer, mixed drink, and/or glass of wine w/ every meal prepared. I only post on FB, but considering starting my own UTube channel. You do an awesome job!

Steve, thank you! I have this same blower (second hand) that always bogs down and I've tried everything. This vid was the key. The high side still had the limiter so I figured tuning wasn't the problem until I popped off the limiter and adjusted. Seems the previous owner somehow turned the high side out about 8 turns (with the limiter on). Once tightened it revs like like champ. Thanks again!

Thanks Steve! My Stihl 56 blower was slightly bogging/hesitating when pinning the throttle from idle. Made the adjustment and now there’s zero hesitation. I found that is a good gauge when setting the low speed screw. Set it where it doesn’t bog when pinned from idle 👍🏼👍🏼

Another great vid Mon Ami ....... I was dialing in a carb for my buddy Johnny Best last week.. He threw a kit in it and I got the low side great...... Weeeel the high side would fade in and out..... Guess what ??? Oh by the way I found that part for my Stihl FS 85 R weedster ... Oh hell I think I just coined a name for a weed whacker /weed eater.... By mis spelling it LOL............. My coozan/cousin in Tucson AZ. found one for me. He works on small engines like we do............ Here is the video link for that part....... Interesting on how many different cables are on the Stihl/Echo weedsters..... LOL Enjoy the video........ kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqrXdX56gM12qNU Mon Ami ~!~!

I actually sold my poulan chainsaw to avoid buying the adjustment tool (I kept my ms290 and 026) then my neighbor gave me his old lawnmower, 2 leaf blowers,and a hedge trimmer. The blowers are a poulan and a craftsman (exact same machine) got one running after swapping ignition coils but needs a carburetor. I was hoping aftermarket would be flat head screws,nope, but at least they give you the tool with the new part. Took me 2 Moosehead to strip both machines to get the ignition coil off both btw 👌

GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS. STRESS ABOUT FUEL OIL MIXTURE, BETTER TO BE ON THE RICH SIDE OF OIL SO GO FOR A 40:1 MIX AS OPPOSED TO WHAT STIHL SAYS WHICH IS 50:1. THEY ARE SUGGESTING THIS AS A POLLUTION REDUCING MIXTURE BUT IT WILL LESSON THE LIFE OF YOUR UNIT BY BURNING OUT THE BEARINGS
