Dextrose Post-Workout. To truly maximize muscle recovery and growth, your best bet is to consume fast carbs along with protein immediately after workouts.
Dieting 101 ► www.jimstoppan...
To Carb or Not To Carb? ► www.jimstoppan...
Consuming pure glucose after a workout means that the body doesn't need to digest it and it can be absorbed into the bloodstream almost as quickly as it is ingested. This gets a dose of glucose to your spent muscles as rapidly as possible for the quickest and most complete replenishment of muscle glycogen. This will keep muscles stocked with ample glycogen for your next workout. Glycogen also pulls water into the muscle cells, which keeps them fuller and bigger. Maximizing muscle glycogen levels post-workout by consuming ample amounts of high-GI carbs immediately afterward can also help you to keep muscle size maximized.

Buy dextrose in powder and take that instead of candy with added artificial flavors and colors. Dextrose is much easier on the body than fructose. The key is consuming a sustained amount, not a high dose at once because it's high glycemic except after workout.

I think the idea is the dextrose drives glucose into your blood stream taking the protein along with it. Getting to those post w/o damaged muscles immediately, as a opposed to eating a protein based meal post w/o.

I like to eat right after workout. Full meal, carbs, protein, fats. You can do whatever way, as from a bodybuilding perspective, it makes no difference. But if you want to use creatine, then you should use a lot of water and then some dextrose with much water is better than a lot of water and a full meal.

@@_lukejsmith agreed, but also, it helps you keep your pump longer. You know how a couple hours post workout your arms are actually smaller than going into the gym? That is when the glycogen stores are depleted. So dextrose is easily converted into glycogen quite quickly actually. You'll find your pump will stay plump for longer. @JuanOLopezGerena
@JuanOLopezGerena 5 жыл бұрын
You can mostly eliminate carbs throughout the rest of the day, have your dextrose post-workout, and still stay under 80g per day. Here's an example: For breakfast, Pro Jym, 4 scrambled eggs with shredded cheese, spinach and kale. For lunch, two hamburger patties with lettuce (use lettuce as the bun). For dinner, chicken breast with alfrefo sauce and broccoli. The gummy bears will feel like a reward for your dietary good behavior the rest of the day. :-) Notice that this style of eating is almost like doing the keto diet, except for the post-workout dextrose.

I personally don't mind the artificial flavors so much, but I've never understood why manufacturers feel the need to add artificial colors. Dextrose fun fact The prophet of Allah (God) made mandatory the practise of Taḥnīk (تَحْنِيكِ) for newborn babies, which is an Islamic ceremony of touching the lips of a newborn baby with honey, sweet juice or pressed dates. Originally the date was softened by mastication by the pious person and rubbed on the infant's palate. The taḥnīk also *exercises the muscles of the mouth* and helps with the *circulation of blood* in the mouth - this may help the baby to be able to suck and take mother's milk. It is also credited to prevent *neonatal hypoglycemia* in newborn babies. Now tell me. The western world has just acquired this knowledge. With all the gadgets and equipment and technology and professional knowledge, skills and team work - how did a man who neither knew how to read and write at the time of his prophethood, *know* such a thing?
