Love working the heavy bag. And you’re right I noticed the power increase in my punches. Wish I got one sixty years ago for Christmas even instead of my Rifleman Rifle.

Great lesson here ! Especially keeping the hands up and foot movement. While it might not be a beginner tool, I like to use a jump rope on the ground, semi-circled around the bag. The idea is to hit the bag without stepping over the rope. It's important to maintain good form and striking techniques. The swinging of the bag helps gauging distance. When comfortable, move the rope back a half inch or so. I learned this from a guy who beat my brakes off at a tournament. Seemed like he was hitting me from the next ring over. lol Afterward, I asked him how he kept hitting me before I even got close enough to hit him... Thanks for your videos !

Hi Matt, I have a pair of Everlast gloves, not boxing gloves just very lightly padded gloves I use when I work on the speed bag. Do I need to do any sort of hand wrapping or something like that for hitting the heavy bag. Years ago (about 40 years ago) I was 6'5" and weighed 170 lbs and played basketball in College and back then coaches would say don't lift weights it will ruin your shot. I hit a heavy bag for fun a few times and my wrists hurt for quite a while, probably my lack of form. But I'm 220 lbs today and have been lifting weights doing the speed bag and also doing your bo class for quite some time, I do the warm up exercises every day. But I still wonder if I need to do any sort of wrapping before the heavy bag besides just using my gloves (they have a wrap on them that goes around the wrist. The internet has not provided much insight but I am sure that you can. Thank you as always for your help, you are the best!!

Thanks Kevin! Yes! The wraps will help the wrists and the knuckles! They even make a glove style wrap that you pull on and supports the wrist and pads the knuckles. Check these amzn.to/3Acc5K1
