Wow
@fleetadmiralauto65064 жыл бұрын
"Happened to be equipped with a laser cannon and class IV nuclear missiles" Huh, so not only were the Russians centuries more advanced than the rest of the world, but a presumably automated satellite loaded with technology did not turn against the humans, and neither did whatever firing controls the Russians used to operate it. For anyone wondering, yes the Russians tried getting some sort of laser weapon into space, but it never made it to orbit and was more of a close-range low-power disabler weapon than a cannon. Space-to-space weapons proved to be impractical at the time, and nukes were only sent to space by the US in the 60s, then banned in '67. The Russians sent a system of space-to-Earth missile launchers in '68, but never manned it, never loaded it, and it was scrapped in favor of submarines/compliance with treaties.

I always figured the scene where the boy checks the bible-thumper to see if he was alive would be creepier if he didn’t turn out to be alive for a jump scare. A child cautiously checking a corpse buried in mud for a heartbeat while hiding from patrolling enemies, ducking into the grass while lights flash by really creates good tension and sets a eerie tone. If he turned out to be truly dead, that tension and mood would not dissipate with the jump scare and instead carry on throughout the movie. Instead we’d be left with the considerably more haunting image of a child examining a corpse for life and not finding any.

21:03 "WE MADE YOU", it took centuries nay milleniums of search for the absolute core of human emotion. As if actors upon actors looking for that perfect order which to put the ohh so many countless words of the english language, and to find that exact sentence trancsending all passion, all raw sentiment, all the things we value as human beings to reach that level of authenticity in a movie, my friends this is not acting anymore no no no no.. This is pure emotion disguised as mere poor acting. We have reached the soul of Man, through this line and we are now closer to GOD! So i say YES overacting actress desperate for recognition in an another degenerate Stephen King story, WE CERTAINELY HAVE MADE YOU.

The trucks need fuel or they'll keep firing. Step 1. Wait until the gun runs out of ammo as it is unable to shoot up or down. It can only shoot forwards. Step 2. Grab the rocket launcher with seemingly infinite ammo that needs no reloading. Step 3. Blow up as many trucks as possible.

True, if we know we'll be in heaven, why would we freak out like a space demon?
@sorryifoldcomment85964 жыл бұрын
Which is exactly why I don't understand why Christians freak out when I try to kill them! Honestly, if I kill your baby before they sin assuring they'll be in heaven with you for a jabillion years, like...you're welcome? I would be relieved if my kid was killed, before they could have sex or before they could become an athiest or do anything to offend God! If you genuinely think they're in heaven, the best place ever, yet you're literally moping around stricken with grief? Why? A true loving mother would be happy that their child is safe and happy. Yet all you do is bitch that you don't get to be with them right now, wah, 40-80 years out of infinite years. Christians should be more relaxed, nothing matters. As long as you are Christian and the right sect of Christianity. There's the argument of course that if you really loved your baby you'd kill them yourself before they could Fuck up going to heaven, dooming yourself to hell but for a good cause. Someone doing it for you? is literally a saint.

I only ended up watching this video because I remembered Optimus Prime saying "Maximum Overdrive" a few times in Transformers: Prime. @theworldofnexttuesday28026 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly from things that I have read, I think that King himself regards himself as basically a pulp novel author. A lot of the pretentiousness associated with Stephen King seems to stem more from the fanbase who hold themselves to be intellectuals simply because the cheese that they like is in the form of a book. It's not to say that the books are bad, but it's like people defending 70's Kaiju films as magnificent works of art when really they do suffer from a lot of limitations. They aren't bad, but they aren't meant to be entertaining in a highbrow manner. And that is perfectly ok. Weird Al is entertaining, he isn't exactly the most intellectually stimulating person either. Not everything has to be deliberately smart, I think that it is ok for a film to just try to be entertaining. Of course, then the problem comes along where there are films that are focus tested to hell and are made to entertain and then have neither artistic value nor entertainment value to stand on.
@teamcybr83756 жыл бұрын
I will fight you about Weird Al not being intelectual. The man was a valedictorian.
@theworldofnexttuesday28026 жыл бұрын
I guess I put that the wrong way. The man himself is clever, a damn genius in his own right, but he isn't writing for a snooty audience. It's for everyone and it's fantastic.
@firrigagamer82815 жыл бұрын
LadyGaGa is hot- I would even dare say it would be redundant if art was intellectual.
