Maximum Space for Sleeping in Vauxhall Zafira for Car Camping

Great advice. I've commented before but have been following this closely. My families had an old 2003 zafira for the best part of 15 years, they were going to scrap it but after seeing this channel, I decided to put it in my name and begin car camping in it. I bought a similar sun lounger and it fits in perfect just like in this video and is very comfortable. The foam I ordered for it was a bit thin so will use a z bed to go on top. Have the black out curtains but need to set a curtain pole up. Going to also follow the weed fabric and cardboard idea for the windows. Really looking forward to getting out there, thanks for all the videos

@@zafiracamper thanks again, I got setting up today, including some solar copper fairy lights which I've lined along the roof. It's very cosy, I'd had never have believed it would be in a zafira (many ways comfier than the bed I sleep in 🤣) Heading out soon, once a few more things are sorted

Shame about the height, I was thinking of one of these to transport bicycles in. It'd be nice to just roll the bikes in & out without taking off wheels & saddles etc but I don't think 89cm is enough - I think it would have to be at least a metre 😞

You are spot on - my rather large MTB does go in, but on its side with the front wheel turned on its side :(

@@zafiracamper Funnily enough I saw another video after yours where they fully stripped it out (removing both rear rows of seats) and measured the height at over a metre, so I think if I did that they would probably fit. Of course it would then lose a lot of its utility for carrying people 🤷 one or the other I guess...

Hey dude, for some reason I thought you were already car camping in zaffy? At 6”2, my normal set up would work fine for you, just pull sear forward/no need to angle the chair forward as well 🙏

Hi Mark- well I made my own covers for the windows (there’s a vid of that in my set up playlist). Curtain wise for the central bit, I put a retractable shower pole (had to cut fabric) in the roof and then just bought some plain blackout material and put in on the rail :) in fact I have a another video of how I black my car out :)

Apparently the middle seat row can be removed completely to create the maximum space possible.

@@infinitydreamzz hi ya, yeah I’ve seen a couple of vids where people have done this, alas I kinda need the middle row for my kids and parents for family runs. Tbh tho, I’ve found over the past few years, that you don’t really need to 😀

Awesome! Does anyone know how much is the gap between the bent backseat row and the boot floor? My idea is to fill the gap to get a flat surface for a mattress. If u have any suggestions it would be much appreciated :)

Hey there, I’ll check and let you know. I remember tho that it’s gradiated, that’s why the sunlongers sooo good as it combats both the bump and the height issues :)

@@zafiracamper Preparing for my inaugural camp at Porteau Cove in April. Debating if window socks will be enough and whether I need to order Weathertech window coverings as I don't plan on doing any stealth camping. But will order a Napier Sportz Cove for added shade so I can look out at lakes and rivers.
