As far as ATL is concerned their security is hyper efficient and clear/precheck combo is god tier at that airport. As far as entering the country in ATL as long as you have GA you are GOLDEN. I'm talking 5-10min IF there is a line. It will actually take you longer to walk that long hallway system to get to the entry point.

Pretty wild to use Alaska points to go to Peru. Don’t forget to try Cuy while you’re there. It’s a national dish. 😊. Seriously, Peru is an ancient culture with wonderful people. Very diverse influences from Asia and the Incas. Cusco is very different city than Lima

6:40 Pause Point - Flight from Atlanta to Columbus is only $166 on Delta. I'd just pay cash, get 5x on the Platinum and call it good. Coming back after the pause, I'd estimate you got 1.7 CPP. Seems reasonable...don't know that I would have used points in this instance, but hey, when you're in the mood, you're in the mood. I love how this game gives us that sort of flexibility. Over 5 Cents/Point is legit for some redemptions centered around on South America- definitely can be a bit more difficult to find outsized value in comparison to flights to Europe/Asia, but Alaska Miles can be a sweet spot (gotta love em being from SEA!). Avianca and America Airlines. Delta has a 20% stake in Latam. AA from JFK to MIA. I rarely have issues at MIA. Speaking fluent Spanish helps.

You will love LATAM, it is great experience, Im from Chile, the formula Alaska miles/LATAM is a great redemption. When traveling to Santiago (SCL), the LATAM lounge there nice one.

Perfect timing on this video. I'm looking hard at scheduling a trip to Peru next year. The Alaska Airlines business card SUB is 50k points now, but the regular card's SUB is 60k (w/$3,000 spend) plus 2,500 additional points if you add an authorized user. Annual fee is $95. I think I might go ahead and snag that card.

Atl has a huge bottle neck once you're past customs. They make everyone go through security again and there's no precheck. It's not a good experience. Easily a 30 min to an hour wait.

For some odd reason, it looks like we keep taking the same trips! I'm flying down to Peru next week on Copa business (IAD-PTY-LIM) in their new Dreams product (30k through Lifemiles with transfer bonus) and then back (LIM-JFK-IAD) on Latam business for 50k through Virgin. Staying at the Palacio del Inka and Tambo del Inka on Marriott 50k certificates and then Hyatt Centric Lima :) Hope you have a great trip!

​@@LukesPointsandMiles Replying back to let you know about the Hyatt Centric Lima! Globalist/Info: Was offered an upgrade to Junior King Suite. They didn't have enough rollaway beds/was too much work for us to fit 3 people so we declined. 2 Queen bed room was well appointed and a good size. Welcome amenity of applejuice (??) and pisco sours. Breakfast spread was amazing. Went for $29 and well-worth it with Globalist. Hotel itself is a very "Centric." Fits the brand well. Terrace bar and pool were good as well. Location: San Isidro, and the hotel itself, is EXTREMELY business-y. We were probably the only tourists there, and everyone was wearing suits. The Spanish Embassy is across the street so the area is really safe. Walkable to many restaurants. You can tell you're in the high-end business district (WeWork is across the street). Lima itself is really "Uber-able" ($2-5 to get anywhere in the city within 20 minutes), so we didn't mind being in San Isidro. Overall, I would recommend it because of the really cheap price. 8k UR is just a steal for the property. I know the Hilton is good, but not really worth it on points. If you have many different currencies, I would also recommend the JW Marriott in Miraflores. Went to visit and looked like a great property for 40-45k Marriott a night (also good for 35k certs). The Radisson Blu is good for a guaranteed suite and a good use of Choice points as well. Enjoy! Let me know if you have any another questions.

Atlanta MPC (mobile passport control) line is almost always empty when I’ve been through it. Use the MPC app in conjunction with your TSA pre-check for reentry.

Man I wish we could find anything like that to Costa Rica at least from west coast US. The only decent biz class price i I could find was cash fare with AA. Transfer partner award availability is bad across the board. Usually we end up transferring to avianca and buying their economy tickets which are good value but no biz/first, they’re kinda like Southwest

I dont like leaving from my local airport as it's small and they charge a lot. Go to Colombia next. Make the time to see Medellin, Tyrones, the National Coffee Park in Quindio, go to San Andres Island. My wife is from Colombia. After that try El Salvador which they say is the next "hot spot" after Costa Rica. The women in Medellin are some of the most beautiful in the world.

Lima has very nice food but 90% of the city is unsafe to the point of not being walkable. I spend time in both lima and cusco and cusco was super unique and much more walkable. Hope you have time to see both.

@@LukesPointsandMiles Miraflores is very touristy and safe. It's like 1-2 streets and maybe 2% of Lima. Most of Lima is quite unsafe. Look into it. But maybe you don't want to go outside Miraflores.
