Rust-resistance and serrations are those things that may not be always needed, but are great to have. Too bad the Salts are a bit elusive to get abroad, but still something i keep in mind.

@vktravellog1242 it has more edge retention than either lc200n or H2, but less toughness..just keep that in mind. The Native 5 in magnacut is awesome...BUT...they are eventually coming out with two new salt knives, one is a para 3 lightweight salt in magnacut

Found a pretty killer deal ($185) on a "used" but like new in box pm2 magnacut salt online and just got it in the mail. The centering is perfect and wow...this thing has the best action of any knife I have ever owned...so smooth. Told myself I didn't need anymore knives since I have bought a decent amount of fixed blades lately...but I sold all my folders a while back and was missing having a couple different options. Figured the crucarta pm2 needed a new friend to split pocket time with when I'm not carrying a little fixie. Couldn't be happier with my recent purchase...this thing is amazing. I said no more knives soon but your video has me contemplating a serrated salt series in h2....

Love salts. Only niggle with these… the Pacific Salt has a bit of flex in the handle, thanks to the lack of steel liners. However the Native feels rock solid without liners (both salt and lightweight models). The Native is a fantastic design. You don’t realize just how perfect it is until you have one in hand. With a bit of lube, I can even middle finger flick them.

IWB (clipped inside my swimming trunk). Very light, sharp and strong. Its the old model, made in Japan, with H1 japanese steel. Now Spyderco sell the Pacific 2, slightly different, but nice too. 😊

I have a Petzl folding knife that has rope serration, it's a great sea knife, has a big ring in the pivot that fits carabineers. My favorite is just a fixed Bahco though, its soft and not serrated, but it can be honed to a razors edge much easier. Taken down a whole deer with just that 15 dollar knife.

I’m a Kayak fisherman, fishing the ocean on the Weat Coast, and I use the Spyderco Pacific Salt LC200N, Spyderco Soren and the Waterway as my fishing knives. Everything else (with the exception of my H1/2 Spydeies) cannot survive a week. LC200N keeps a good edge for an adequate amount of time, while the H series steels require touchups too frequently, for my use.

I just received my Windler LC200N blade in the mail today. I've poo pooed the Windler tool in the past but lately I've been carrying as light as possible with a small EDC wallet with the knipex XS and in the other pocket the Windler knife with the pry tool. Though I'm not a fan of the Windler tool with all its implements as an EDC tool, there is no folding knife that I know of that's as narrow as the Windler knife. And that includes the Benchmade Narrows!

I have the Native 5 LW Salt in Magnacut. I much prefer the ergos over the high hump knives. To me it is the ultimate utilitarian EDC blade around. Perfect for athletic shorts as it’s an ultra light. I think the Shaman and Native 5 are the two most ergonomic knives they make. I hold them in a forward grip. Mid hump is next, so Manix 2 and Sage. The high hump models are rather uncomfortable to me in a forward grip unless you have one the is big enough to fit your hands. The Stretch 2 XL best fits my hand. The Para 3 was Spyderco’s most uncomfortable knife for me. Hated it. Got rid of my LW. Agree though, everyone needs atleast one Salt series knife.

Lc200n has much higher toughness. More corrosion resistance and LESS edge retention
@johnsanford3596
@johnsanford3596 Жыл бұрын
Magnacut - Better edge retention, a little more difficult to sharpen. LC200N a bit tougher than Magnacut, but probably not enough to matter. Magnacut is being used in bushcraft knives, so clearly the primary abusers of knives are willing to take a shot on it. LC200N is a tiny bit more corrosion resistant, but if you find yourself in a situation where the difference actually matters, you probably have much, much bigger problems to deal with. (Chlorine gas breathing dragons, hydrochloric acid spitting manta rays, you know, INTERESTING TIMES.) That particular shade of green, as well as the yellow, are, to my knowledge, only used on Salt series knives. I could be wrong though.

Spyderco doesn't currently make a PM in a Salt version. I've never seen one in either the PM2 or PM3, but that doesn't mean they have never made one. The Pacific Salt is the same SIZE as the PM2. If you really want a compression lock "Salt", I think the only one currently available is the Caribbean. LC200N blade, all other steel bits are an even more corrosion resistant stainless steel, and the clip is titanium. Not cheap though.

You missed the Caribbean and the SpydieChef. Both are "salty" as well, in fact Spyderco includes the Caribbean among the Salt knives. Methinks the best "all around" Salt is the Pacific Salt LC200N, although I am also fond of my Caribbean. With the exception of the drop on the tip of the blade, it's pretty much the same as the Endela. Longer blade than the Native 5. I love, love LOVE the Endela. btw, Peterson didn't take the knives to the Dead Sea. That would have been really, really silly for him to do, although I'm sure he would have if the company would have picked up the tab. He took them to the Great Salt Lake, which is a mere 40 miles from Blade HQ, rather than 7,000+ miles to the Dead Sea. I may have to get myself a PM3 SaltyMag when they come out. I'd love to see the Pacific Salt with a SpydieEdge, made in Magnacut. I'd be all over it.
