I just bought this thing to have something with good scissors that's smaller than the phantom, and after receiving it today, the pics, and videos don't do it justice. This thing is beautifully designed, and mine was tight as a button. My 4mm bit kit from the phantom works perfectly on top the phillips head tool, and I've customized it for my needs. Top notch. I've owned lots of tiny EDCs as well as various victoriknox, leatherman, gerber, tools for backup at work. This is now the backup. Great job roxon.

*In 2014 at Menard's, I bought a Leatherman Wingman for $9. Menard's stopped carrying Leatherman brand and had a deep closeout. I went back the next day and bought the last one. I love that it isn't too big, it's ergonomic and has a pocket clip. I prefer that over a belt holster. I think I got the deal of the century.

I've had the Roxon Phantasy for.. Oh it must be 8 years now. It's incredible. I use the utility knife/box cutter the most for work, but switch out to the clip point blade for day to day use. Only 2 issues, one of which is a good thing, and the other I have fixed. That being the lock on the liner lock where it touches the swappable blades easily grinds away from the friction of opening and closing the knife repeatedly. I can now hold it by the blade while its closed and flick it open, but it still stays closed and I dont worry of it opening by mistake. The other is that the 2 nubs for the locks to take the handle apart stick out juuust a bit from the handle, so they catch on stuff and I have often had one end unlock and mess up the opening action. I used to clip it to my belt loop so it was exposed, and catching on stuff. Now I've made a leather sheath for it, so only the bottom lock is exposed but is now no longer touching anything because of positioning. Highly recommend, if they still sell it.

Very interesting offering from Roxon! I would really love to see these types of tools offered with non-blade options as well, or the ability to replace the blade with something else (easily). I always feel like the blades on these tools are just barely "good enough" and I will typically just go to my pocket knife. It would just be great to have another tool instead of another knife at times, especially when trying to keep my pockets light.

So true you know if Gerber made an Armbar drive with locking driver and no blade I'd buy it in an instant as there are very very few affordable bit drivers out there. Carried with a Spyderco (in my case the Urban as my country doesn't allow me to EDC a locking blade) and Knipex Cobra XS that would be a great little toolset.

Victorinox has been around and perfected their tools for over 150 years. I've been using their pocket knives since 1960. They are the "Rolex" of pocket knives and you can't go wrong with them for quality and price. I've tried others and NOTHING matches the quality of a Swiss Army knife. They also last forever if treated with care. I still use one of my older models which is 40 years old. It's still like new and I take it with me everywhere.

I have a different Roxon with just the scissors and a blade. The scissors are great to start out, but get messed up fairly quickly. I've had mine for about a year and have only used it to cut cord and occasionally prune tomatoes. Nothing that should be nicking the scissors, but they are are starting to not cut well due to all the nicks. The blade doesn't hold an edge very long either. So both are probably made of fairly soft material. Better to pay a little more and get something that will hold an edge. The blade on mine also has that play you showed. I've tightened everything up and still it wobbles. Yes it's cheaper in most cases, and the scissors are nice for a while, but I'm looking for something better...

Hi, lately Roxon has great designs, just needs little more refinement. I know in US you can get cheap SAKs second hand, and if you are patient you send it to Victorinox and they'll make it new, that's what they've done with my Handyman, free of charge, I just paid to ship it. And I found it 20 years ago, didn't buy it. With my Free P2 I've had same issue with opening the blade, so I've loosened the spring and it worked. I've sold it now and just got MX Clip, I love it. Cheers 👍

A most interesting, thought-provoking video! This Roxon KS2 reminds me of Ruike M42, though they make a smaller M32 for about a tenner less. I'm in the UK, so perhaps Ruike isn't being sold in the US. Still, it holds a great many tools similar to your Roxon. I suppose it's a matter of price and requirements. At home one of my daughters finds her Roxon scissors and blade very useful. I think she said of paying about £20 for it and 2 years later the scissors still cut well as its blade.

Now they have a KS2Elite with a D2 knife blade, 5Cr15MoV scissors and 1.4116 for everything else, in addition offering a bit extender for just 43€. For the lenght of the handle, the blade is quite short, but I love its shape, can easily grind it to a scandi, my outdoors favorite. Not sure, how well you could drill a hole with the reamer, bur the saw is ok and the scissors are OUTSTANDING. BTW: if you find it cumbersome to deploy the blade, notice, the scales are thinner there, you can easily make bigger cutouts with a Dremel rotary sandpaper wheel

Women will LOVE this if ROXON make them colorful fun/cute as they love scissors but they need to make it curvaceous just make sure to keep the scissors, nail file and a package opener. Women are 50% of the market and tend to buy more yet generally don't carry multitools because they aren't cute/fun and if they are they use nail nicks which bugger up nails that took them effort.

Fun fact: there's a pair of tweezers in the scissor handle! I haven't used it much yet, but I quite like mine. Can confirm, awesome scissors, which was a big part of the draw for me. Mine actually came with zero play in the blade; maybe you got (un)lucky with quality control, or if it was a common thing, they may have already addressed it, or maybe I got lucky lol. The blades thumb stud could use some more texture. I find myself slipping off it and bumping the knife edge frequently. The Phillips is a little too small for #2 screws, and I'd like to see a design like the Victorinox inline phillips, but the way they squeeze a 3D head in there with the awl/reamer is excellent. I'd rather see a large flathead than the openers, and maybe a larger file or something in place of the saw. Just not sure I'm likely to have this tool in a situation where I'd need a (tiny) saw.

Interesting little multi tool. I don't know if it's a Victorinox killer, especially considering that quality issue at the start. But I'm feeling it might be a T4 killer. It is supposed to have tweezers (standard crappy tweezers) but doesn't say where it is. Also interesting to note is the saw also has a potential hole punch that could be used for belts or other leather, undoing knotts, or if you grind it down a bit you could use it as more of a traditional awl/hole punch into wood and metal. Oh and the hole in the AWL is meant to be a threader. could although with that blade being sharpened like it is you could end up cutting anything you try to thread. There really is a lot of potential with this guy

Competition is good and as many brands in this game as possible the better, but i don't think that any brand will ever dethrone Victorinox. It's a mixture of stablished superiority trough experience and down-to-earth realism in approaching everyone's needs. Also, given the growing community of modders nowadays anyone can have a Victorinox more fitting to one's purposes and tastes. All that said applies to the knives; i didn't mention the superb SwissTools. The sole thing that can affect Victorinox is Victorinox itself - by the dangerous decision of discontinuing models, for instance.

honestly, for me victorinox is a little bit overglorified. I mean, yeah, they are great, they can withstand a lot compared to other multitools, but if you are starting to abuse them then they die just as easily, so i would prefer something cheaper but somewhat close by quality and repairability. Not to mention Roxon probably the only one in the industry who makes such large scissors! And for me they are much more usefull in large size than smaller ones. And althow i havent tried their KS2, im currently using their phantom s802, wich is also comes with their scissors and same blade, both of which are feeling great! (I dont use them to scrape of wood or something like that, but cutting rubber, insolation, food, cardboard and plastic and the blade is fine! )

I have had multi tools like this. Swiss army, Leatherman, Gerber ect, and all I ever used was my knife...for everything. I open bottles, cut open tins (way too slow with the tin opener. Try it. 3 seconds flat.) everything with my blade. I have never used anything on these knives. The blade is the tool, the rest is just toys. For the last 30 years I have only carried good quality, strong, single blade folding knives and that is it. It gets used 20 times a day and people around me also ask to borrow it. You just dont need to fill you pockets with 5 oz chunks of steel you never use. My favourite and only EDC is the Syderco Delica. It has a man sized tang/scales and at 2 oz, you dont even feel it in your pocket.

It depends what you do. I work with a lot of cleaning machines and used to be a carpenter, and I’ve always carried a folding single blade and a leatherman on my belt and use both to the point that I wouldn’t be caught dead without them somewhere nearby

@@joegoedhart1259 fair, my big tools are too, but coming down from a roof and all the way out to the street is a little ridiculous for a quick job, no? I’m not saying real tools don’t have their place, but I promise you if you carried a leatherman you’d get more use out of it than you expect.

I got this one from Tao Bao for only hkd125 which certainly a price killer for both Victorinox and Leatherman. Of course quality wise is not really comparable but I am sure everyone will like once tried. Btw, the tweeter is place inside the arm of the scissors !

In Europe, knives that open with one hand (in this case with the thumb on the blade button) are prohibited from carrying on the street, for that same reason, it is no longer compatible in the European market....

Nice review and probably going to buy as the clip and knife are just where I want them. I wear a pen on my right front pocket, so my knife goes in my left front pocket. The way this clip is set is where I move my clips to, so I don't get stabbed accidentally.

The thing that the scissors appear from the same place that the knife forgives that the knife has certain movement. Interesting gear. If it is at a lower price than victorinox is interesting.

Respectfully disagree about the clip. It depends on whether you are clipping the tool on the *inside* of a pocket, or on the outside of a pocket, belt, etc. The presumption is that the user is right-handed, as most will be. If you have this installed on the outside (such as on a belt), the placement of the clip makes sense. With it installed externally, the user will reach "down and over the tool", and the clip will be opposite the palm side, while the knife will be by the thumb for one-handed opening. I'm 100% sure their engineers considered this and decided to offer a tool that would be readily grabbed from the outside of wherever it is hanging. And there is no hard and fast rule about "where the pocket clip always goes" -- it is a matter of design and decision. A better solution in gerneral is to have a clip that can be installed on either side. And the best solution of all is to have a clip that can be installed on either side at either end.

The blade on mine was perfect out of the box. but after some days i was able to flick it and it's very satisfying now. The irony is that i don't have any knife that use washers and now i think i like washers more than bearings. Also, you missed the tweezers because they're hidden in the scissors handle.

They should completely dispense with the rubbish blade and replace it with a dedicated 3 sided file, like the leathermans. And then the cross head driver should have been 3D all the way down the shaft, so it has more torsional strength, because the main point of these pocket tools without pliers, is to provide a quality pocket X head driver, and a business like file. We can all get hold of a lightweight pocket knife of our choice. That’s not what this tool is carried for. But I love those scissors! Proper size scissors would be wonderful. I wish my leatheman edc bladeless Rebar had replaced its blade with a large pair of scissors instead of leaving a gap and keeping the puny scissors..

I’ve got to be honest, I really have no idea what Leatherman has been thinking with their latest offerings. They need to redesign their scissors from the ground up and figure out how to make compact tools that are just as sturdy and useful as their bulkier items. There is no reason they couldn’t create a double sided pocket knife that’s as slim as the victorinox compact but with more tools.

Looks a bit bulky and the edges are square. On of the problems with a moderately heavy piece of metal is that it can quickly knock a hole in your pocket, if you carry it frequently.
