The Canning Garden fried chicken is THE best! My family has been going there for more than 20 years and the owner's wife hasn't aged much. Their chicken has been consistently fabulous. I still go there every time I am back in Ipoh without fail..their other dishes are also really, really good. There's a lot of care and quality that goes into their food and it shows. And yes...get there early to avoid the line. Another great thing about them is they fry the chicken in batches so you always get fresh chicken. Its also the one time I like battered fried chicken with rice. Its just too much flavour to eat on its own. The combo is just brilliant. Good on you for finding this gem. Most food bloggers I've seen tend to miss this place somehow. Well done!

Just because KL and Penang are 2h drive away, please don't take it for granted we share the same food culture... Penang is very Hokkien, while Ipoh is more Hakka-Cantonese... All in all, welcome to my hometown

I love Ipoh food but there seem to be a recurring theme in the food in this town. It’s steamed chicken and bean sprouts. I notice it’s in most of their famous dishes. In their curry mee, in their Ipoh hor fun, in tbeir chicken rice and even as a dish called ngar Choi kai (bean sprouts chicken). Max, do try the bean curd (tau foo fah). Enjoy my friend. 😋

I know you've got a lot of question regarding this matter. But i can't help being curious over here thinking of how you stay fit after eating all this food. Do you happen to lost everytime you looking for food or you are deliberately choose a long route to arrive to your destination??
@Macoi24

ohhhh good question. I do not always get lost, but sometimes I do haha. However, I do workout some. When it is a day i film, if a location is 30 minutes or less to walk. I do it because I need food to digest as well. Also, I do not have the money to always pay for a grab or something.
