Ipoh is predominant Chinese food..Whatever u ate is all chinese food except the nasi Ganja. Will recommend that you try out the Chinese eateries for the Steam chicken not roast chicken, silky smooth tender. White coffee, like 1. Chang Jiang White Coffee · 2. Sin Yoon Loong ·3. Nam Heong and MANY MORE, different Chinese Kopitiam will result in a different taste of coffee, some more hazelnut, some more charcoal roast, etc in flavor. Dry curry, different eateries will result in a different version of dry curry, try it with Hor fun noodles instead of yellow noodles, example Yee Fatt Dry Curry Noodles. Also try Kai see hor fun like from Moon de Moon Restaurant and Sar Kok Liew ( Yambean Fritters), which u can get at Dai Shu Geok (Big Tree Foot). Ipoh shaved ice desert, Egg custard/flan, Char siew Sou, Egg tart, Kaya KOK etc..List goes ON

@fisherman9520 Жыл бұрын
@@PureDetour 😂 google translate is hilarious. "Lemak pedas" is a common spicy yellow gravy (bird's eye chilli & tumeric in coconut milk) eaten with with rice like in "nasi campur". It originated from West Sumatera. Yes it can be super spicy. You'd get this (and its variations) in almost any Malay restaurant in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Southern Thailand and Brunei. You'd have in it chicken or beef (smoked or not), cow's belly, fish, clam, mud creeper, prawn or lobster. Lemak in Malay context is more often than not has to do with coconut milk in the cooking i.e nasi lemak. Some add coconut milk in curries. It is a must ingredient in "rendang". Kaya, a Hainanese & Baba- Nyonya creation, prime ingredient is coconut milk & palm sugar, hence "lemak manis". It can't be sweet fats 😂. Malays are obsessed with "santan" (coconut milk) that many dessert & pastries are "santan" based. Lemak manis that is. We'd also say "lemak merdu" which means tuneful as in singing voice or the proverb "banyak lemak" referring to troublesome behavior in a person or being lazy. Literally "banyak lemak" does mean too much body fats. That nasi ganja's special orange "sambal makes it so addictive. Maybe there's ganja is in it 😂. The only unpleasant thing about is the always long que.

The palm sugar was definitely Geoff’s favourite. I liked the ginger.

We weren't sure if we would like it, but were pleasantly surprised. Especially the palm sugar and ginger syrup versions.

The worst is NASI GANJA. I really wonder why there are so many weirdos who said its the best.

Really? We thought it was delicious! What is your favourite Ipoh dish? We have one more Ipoh food video coming next week, maybe we tried your fave?

@@PureDetour pls dont take it personally. I appreciate your effort in making this video. There are many over rated places in IPOH... and Nasi Ganja is at the top of the list of the over rated ones. IPOH is not well known for Nasi Kandar. I should know, cos I grew up in Ipoh and still go to IPOH every 2 months so I am very much in touch with IPOH all my life and still do. The other over rated ones are LO WONG and ONN KEE...both selling horrible quality chicken rice. When I said Horrible...it means horrible for IPOH's food standard. Both are tourist traps so you will find majority of the customers are tourists and not locals.

Quietly, according to history Sultan Perak is the most brilliant Sultan among others Sultans. Perak is the only state in Malay Peninsular that could repel the Siam invasion of Perak with the brilliant war strategy by its Sultan and its warrior by playing tin commodity trade strategy with British, Bugis, Selangor, Siam, Kedah to face Siam invasion, buying weapons, getting army assistance. Perak has many tin mines and with tin commodity British, Siam and other states bow to Perak. Perak never bow and never been invaded by Siam like Pattani, Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu , Pahang etc but instead Perak could stole a large Siam territories in Yala and Songkla into its fold that now known as Hulu Perak district. Due to fail invasion of Perak eventhough many times campaign in Perak, King of Siam so frustated and stop his intention to attack and invade all other states. Perak has salvaged Malay Peninsular from fall to Siam. Thanks to Perak. You should learn History of Perak its very interesting.

Mmmmm nasi kandar is delicious. I don't like squid all that much but love the crabs and big prawns! Though you're right, your wallet is lighter after that, lol

I have been living in Ipoh for the last few decades and most of the places you recommend I have never heard before. Don't pretend to be a food connoisseur when you are just passing by Ipoh. There are much more food which is more delicious and has been selling for decades.

Hahahaha. Where in the 140+ videos we have released did we ever claim to be food Connoisseurs? I'll let you know, NOWHERE. We only suggested some foods for tourists to try. And of the 160+ comments on this video, with the overwhelming majority being people from Ipoh that have no issue with what we put out, you're the only one being an ass. I'll bet you're a ton of fun at parties.
