Just a video showing a couple of Max Payne quotes. I don't show much of part 3, it's mainly just a montage of Max acting out of character.

But not quite as dead if you contributed to something. Until we meet again, James. A true legend. Ps. If you miss him, you know where to look.
@RadeRTV8 жыл бұрын
People are probably revolving their opinions around that quote about his wife at the end of MP2 (I had a dream of my wife. She was dead, but it was alright) and the fact that he is running from his past up until the end, when he faces it and poetically, it solves everything and he is supposed to be alright. But maybe, just maybe, this progress of his was only temporary. At least that's how I see things. Maybe Mona and the whole MP2 story helped Max but only for a SMALL amount of time, as if he took a painkiller. Let's not forget that he is laid off NYPD and that Michelle and his baby aren't the only people he had lost. If Mona is the true cure for his past, then losing her, no matter how poetic this might be, would still hurt him a lot and would possibly make him grieve his way back to the MP1 days. Add the betrayals, the fact that he is not a cop anymore, the death of literally everyone he knew (even Jim Bravura dies between MP2 and MP3). Max was indeed helped by Mona, but after MP2, what is there for him? Corpses and unemployment. Spend nine years dealing with survivor's guilt, loneliness, grief, self-hatred and eventually you're gonna fall off, sink into alcohol. He is feeling worthless, he feels like a failure in every aspect. Nothing that he cared for is there for him anymore. Living for nine years like this would definitely make him abandon every quality that he had in favor of booze. That's why he seems so dumb in MP3. Because he's so depressed, he doesn't care about anything anymore. Who cares if he had a poetic touch? Whoever cared is now dead. He's literally living off of alcohol and grief. This thing eats you on the inside and all that's left is this angry, self-deprecating drunk (hence brushing off his past once again, calling Mona a "business"). MP3 sees Max at his worst because depression never goes away if you've got no one to help you deal with it. I mean, like most of his hardcore fans hating the setting, hating the things Max ended up doing and hating Max at some point (especially after he shaved his head) so does Max. Max hates every single second of MP3. Passos comes and offers him a job, he denies it because he thinks he's too rusty or he sees himself as a failure. But despite his broken state, he somehow gets involved with the Brancos, he gets involved with the crimes that Victor did and in the end, he saves a lot of people. Sure, the people he was originally supposed to protect end up dead, but now there's a difference. At the end of MP3, when he finally solves the human trafficking scandal, after he rescues Giovanna, makes amends with Passos and helps Da Silva, after he rescues those innocent people, they live. Everyone that wasn't caught in Max's misanthropic rants lives. The outcome of his actions is not death anymore. He's not looking at a pile of corpses anymore or, at least, he's not looking at the corpses of his close ones. Which is why he "moves on" or it is suggested that he moves on in MP3. Because now, it was worth fighting. Even if the entire story is trying to tell Max that he is an alien, that nothing he ever did or ever will do is wrong, in the end, he is finally a hero. This is my two cents on the whole franchise. I love Max's character a whole lot, I was so sad when I saw Mona die in his arms, but I was so happy seeing him walk into the sunset with that pleased smile. To me, the turmoil he finds himself in MP3 makes so much sense, I'm sorry if my opinion is too long or otherwise, not accepted, but to me it's all so logical. The simplicity and dumb surroundings, the GTA-esque atmosphere is so fitting, because GTA is a self-deprecating world, with cliche people and stereotypes that make you wanna strangle them through your screen. Max Payne is the anti-GTA, hating every aspect of this GTA and yet being forced to live through it, getting influenced by it of course, but managing to fight through the fun and games and discovering the rotten core of the story. And another thing : had I tried to forget about my wife and child with another woman, no matter the outcome, at some point in time, I would hate myself for it. After all, it's family we're talking about here. The kind of love Max felt for Michelle...that can't be felt twice in a lifetime. So it's logical that he brushes Mona off in MP3, after all, love is felt, not thought through. Excuse my potential grammar or spelling mistakes.

I haven't thought of it that way. That's genius when you think about it.

@VimyGlide6 жыл бұрын
sure his arc may have made sense, but the writing certainly doesn't seem like him from the first two games. i think the problem is that, strangely enough, he sounds too grounded in 3. in the first two he talked in metaphors and quotes, really inspecting everything he was looking at. in 3, he's just sort of...pissed off. it's definitely a shift. edit: poetic. he was poetic in the first two games. jesus fucking christ i can't believe i couldn't think of the word
@GreedAndSelfishness6 жыл бұрын
Problem is he already "dealt with his demons" in Max Payne 2. He learned to accept all the shit that had happened. *I had a dream of my wife. She was dead, but it was alright.* And he wasnt nearly as fucked up as this. Rockstar just really fucked Max Payne up. He's nothing like the first two games. Hes a shitty bum imitating Bruce Willis in jungle slums. What in the fuck were they thinking? What happened to the deep ,beautiful, poetic monologue or cold dark streets of Noir York? What about nightmares? It's all so bad. Instead we get a cursing bum wandering around drunk in jungles, yelling, with shitty flash effects constantly burning my eyes.

Max Payne 3 isn't supposed to be about him coming to terms with his haunted past; it takes place in Brazil! It's another chapter in Max Payne's life. Nobody who had lost a wife or child could ever be at peace and Max Payne 3 illustrates that. Max is a drunk/pill addict still struggling to let go of the past. For all his video game powers, Max is still very human.

FREAKING ZOMBIE DEMONS FROM OUTER SPACE!! Honestly, I loved the dialogue in Max Payne 3. Less eloquent and more bitter and vulgar than before, but Max is getting pretty old and it's been 9 years of alcohol and painkiller abuse, so I can accept the change as long as he's still sarcastic and witty. Personally, I thought the swearing and out-of-character moments made him more human and relatable, but maybe that's just me. At least, he still has the same voice actor. I think it was mentioned somewhere that he realized that his brief relationship with Mona was just a desperate attempt to make up for the loss of his wife and child. Not sure if that means anything though...

I bought a copy when I was like 8 ish because my father (RIP) and my older sister played it and I couldn’t hold a PS2 controller in my hands. Max Payne 2 is a gothic romance and nowhere near as horrific and traumatizing as the first, but it’s decent. I’ve beaten all of them by my self, but when Max Payne 3 came out on Xbox 360 and my dad didn’t get the controls and all.... I got the be the story teller. I love MP3 and I have hope they make more. I remember sliding down the end levels escalators while listening to Whatever (Chris Benoits theme) and wrecking enemies :3 One of my happiest moments, aside from Johnny and me walking home for 3 miles in a snow storm (LEAVING MY MA IN CAR NO LESS ... -.-) to play San Andreas... My favourite quote “I don’t want to think about it, as I long I don’t, it could never happened” It perfectly summarised how people when they think undesirable thoughts. The title of the music also fit, Just forget about it.

-There's a wall in the funhouse that has written REDDRUM, if you look back in the mirror it says "MURDDER" and a flamingo appears(the same flamingo from address unknown) saying "Mirrors are more fun than television"(you can see this quote written on walls in Max Payne nightmares) -In the last nightmare Jim Bravura is showing you a dead body (yourself) and he says "The killer's looking for an answer, but he's looking for it in the wrong place.He should be looking for it in HIS OWN HEAD" CONTINUE

I'll go with Remedy's closure to the series, the note. Max gets to be with his family again"Honey, I'm home"! The one where Mona lives is also good, I like it because it's beautiful when the theme starts kicking in and Mona starts talking again! That, and because it will prevent Max from going to Brazil and all. I think the reason Max Payne wasn't talking in the mp3 ending was because it was the present, and Max was no longer narrating because he just told his story. That sounds cool aswell.

Pssh, only when you concentrate the rather sparse profanity of a 12 hour game and throw it at the end of introverted narration.

The for me is "take a cheap place and make millions with it" from Max Payne 3, thats how was Brasil back in the Day i not gonna lie, even Max Payne could see that apart from those who like to hear sweet lies from a president that stole and drinks littelly with their money....

3 wasn't that bad. The most notable thing I noticed in 3 is that he is much more emotive and angry. However, in 1 and 2, Max is essentially recounting a story so it makes sense why he sounds pretty low energy about it. He's just saying it how it is. In 3, you see him actively participate in the story, so you see him react to things as he learns about it.

Funny how Max was a modern seductive, sarcastic Noire detective in MP1 and MP2. suddenly on MP3 he just says ''fucking" and "piece of shit " and other Rockstar disgusting ways.

I’ve been popping pills to dull the pain since I was 10. I was pretty addicted to the Max Payne.

Though people will disagree with my opinion and that's fine, I thought Max Payne 3 was a pretty excellent game. I thought it was actually kinda clever making Max addicted to pain killers since in the past two games, you needed to pop pills to get health back. It's some pretty good background story telling, plus he feels guilty over Mona Sax, though his wife is dead and it is normal to want to move on. Max as a character has been through so much shit he can't find a break and as he aged he became more and more bitter at life. I mean if someone broke into your home, murdered your family due to a government cover up who used V to make them do it, then framed for the murder of your best friend I'd be pissed. Then you kill the bitch behind it and think you can move on but no, Mona comes back to throw a spanner in the works, you get framed for some pretty bad shit and your Russian brother from another momski decides to stab you in the back. Then after all that shit has blown over, some shit goes south and the grave of your beloved wife is desecrated by gun fire. And if that wasn't bad enough, you get to play the fall guy. If I was in the same situation then I'd be an angry, foul mouthed drunk who pops pills and wants to die.

I don't think people deny that MP3 was an excellent game, what they're saying is that it didn't do justice as an addition to the series that already existed with components that were fundamentally important to the series' identity. Had Rockstar started their own reboot of Max Payne that lead up to that 3rd game, the MP3 we know now would've been fantastically received. The absence of Remedy's and Sam Lake's production was sorely obvious and needed to capture what they did in the first two games to finish it off (if that was even needed after Mp2). I'd have preferred Remedy to finish the trilogy with their own title and Rockstar reboot with their own one.

the thing is you have to understand max went through 8 years of solitary pain and despair and after losing everything he ever wanted hes become disconnected from the things that used to make him happy and the hope to have those things again. instead hes very cynical and hates himself aswell as the world around him. He is still very witty in this game although i recognise not as poetic, he focus more on his instinct in this one instead of thinking things through and describing everything*Part 1*
