Kalmar!! I didn't grow up there. But this is my paternal grandmothers home town. So for me.. Kalmar has always been connected with summer, fun.. And meeting my cousins who all live there. If I am not mistaken. This was Lars Kaggskolan. It used to be a naval school. That tower simulates the bridge and observation deck of large naval ships or cruise vessels and the students meant to be captains would study navigation up there.

Reading these comments have really put a different perspective to swedish schools for me as a swedish high schooler. Everyone is so disappointed when it comes to school in sweden even though it feels like people from other countries have great respect for the swedish school system.

I know this was posted a while ago, but Iv been through the USA and Swedish schools and like the swedish system definielty has it flaws, for me: intrinsic motvation felt like the only that could get you good grades. But compared to the USA, you are on average more educated and more indepdent. For me personally, it was like going from feeling like I was respected and allowed to make my own choices in grundskola, to being confied in what looks like a prison, fully equpied with locked external doors, police, yellow buses, and a death stare from teachers who see you walking the halls towards the restrooms during break. Oh not to mentiond the teachers who guard the bathrooms and check how many people are in there at once... yeah needless to say, the envy is real. College life is pretty similar tho. Also, not to mention, gym class (before highschool) in sweden involves actually having fun, in the USA, we run around and do pushups and are given like 5 mins to change.

A particular part of the video that made me outright laugh was this part here: ( 10:35 ) where they were telling you what the school was serving them for lunch.
