Severe winter tips: power may go out if you have heavy sleet, having good flashlights or headlamps and spare batteries are super useful. If you lose heat, hang blankets over doorways and have everyone stay in the smaller room (easier to heat with bodyheat), leave your taps slightly dripping to keep pipes from bursting, taping plastic sheeting or trash bags over windows can help keep the cold out of rooms, dress in layers, and don't go out to get supplies unless you absolutely have to. If your fridge/freezer loses power and its cold enough outside you can store stuff out in snow, or pack snow/frozen water bottles into coolers. Try to open fridge/freezer as little as possible. Stay safe y'all.

I am a weather enthusiast and storm chaser (severe weather here in East Texas only) and I admire this man’s dedication and his knowledge of the weather and environment. What he does isn’t easy and as we all know weather is super unpredictable especially here in Texas 😂! As a retired trucker I can drive in it I just chose not to. I had to do it for years now I can just sit and watch it come down and stay home and warm. Ww are hunkered down in our RV heading towards Quartzite, Arizona. We are hunkered down in Ozona, TX, along I-10. The steady rain started at 0500. The sound keeps changing, so it is indeed a wintery mix of sleet, rain, snow. The winds are also picking up. I felt the same way so I looked up national weather service current hazards on Google and easily found this map and the key. There's too many things on the key for Max to show it on screen. What's annoying is they use two shades of pink and they mean different things. Dark pink is red flag warning, basically high wind fire hazard. That's why socal is dark pink right now

Good morning Max! Thank you for updating us as this storm is coming through and continue to evolve! I am like dead center in the middle of Texas in between I 20 and I 10, so anything can happen in that zone. So I’m close to Abilene just about an hour south. And this morning I wake up too wet, which is what I expected because heck last week we were in the 90s, but you can tell that the rain has sleet in it. It’s not just rain. Of course it is not sticking to the ground because it’s been warm here! But I will keep watching to see what you keep predicting because as you have done every day so far that weather pattern has changed. But Lord, I’m hoping it’s not an ice storm like we had a couple years ago! Everybody stay safe out there as you have to travel in this weather and those over and CA please stay safe Evacuate if you’re told too. Don’t stay in your homes. arkansan here, our trip to california was canceled due to the fires, even though we were ready to brace the snow to head to the memphis airport tomorrow. we’re stocking up on what we need today, and sitting tight for this storm. we might be a southern state, but we have experience with bad winter storms

Glad you were able to cancel. Arkansan that lived in Cali most of my life and the high winds they are experiencing means it's going to get worse before better, then if it rains it's mudslides.

You should still come out, get on a Greyhound. California weather is the best in the nation. Sunny days for the past few weeks. The fires aren't that bad. I live in Los Angeles

Thanks again Max! I wish you could zoom in more sometimes. I live in missouri and it's hard to find my county it's so small and I think sometimes there's a number covering it up.
