MAXXFORCE 13 DELETE UPDATE

I've had the truck for a year and it's been deleted for 6 months. overall update on the truck.

A lot of people stay away from the Maxxforce 13, but I feel that the long block is well built. Of course the engine has a bad rep for the egr valve and coolers failing, but you no longer have to worry about that. At our shop, we haven’t had to rebuild too many of them.

My roll off is an international with that engine. Just had 25k dumped into it because it kept getting towed in. Just got it back and it’s been 2 days without any issues. Fingers crossed it stays that way. A solid engine for sure if it wasn’t for the emissions parts causing issues nonstop

If you ask me, it was the EPA that killed the Maxxforce line of engines. If anyone should be sued, it’s the EPA with their ridiculous regulations!

Hey Alec, so the tune for the truck was it just a dfp and egr delete that's all? I just got my truck deleted on the computer and I'm now doing the block off plates and already removed the dpf. Thank you for the time and effort in the videos helps lots of people including me!

Yes, the tune removes the dpf and egr from the ecm and they also increased the torque and horse power

And one thing if anyone knows why my turbos do not spool like I've never heard them, in your first videos as soon as you start your truck you hear the turbos spool, never heard them on mine any ideas and what's going on? Ps the turbos do work I've hooked a computer to see the psi but barley spools.

@@hassaneenalghazali8344 if you have or get neds level 3 it's like $80 online you can set your power levels. If you have a boost gauge, unhook and plug the line to your waste gate on the high pressure turbo and see what sound you get. Could have an underlying problem

When you received the ecm from 3k did you need a laptop and nexiq usb link or was it a plug n play?

Alec I have the same truck with the EPU not really issues with it. I had more issues with the inverter they had hooked to it. Is yours a light blue color? They have a weird reset if the GFI is tripped which is easy to do. If your batteries are good really no problems. You don't seem like a guy that ask for help but if you have questions Please ask. If you put in a different system please video as much as you can. Did you clean the back of the condenser for the EPU mine was covered with lint. How much did you pay for that starter? How hard to put on? any tips. I have not done mine i'm at 660k but I'm sure it will need at some point.

Appreciate your comment. This unit doesn't have the inverter built into it. It's just heat and a/c, the a/c compressor doesn't always start and them being out of business makes finding parts almost impossible, when it does work it does a good job i just wish it was dependable. I will defend post the install when I change systems. The starter was $310 at the dealer and took 2 hours all together to remove and replace.

@@alecburril3433 mine is Idle free EPU I think installed when bought by MVT carrier. That is where my truck originally came from. IF yours is Idle free they are still in business. I am pretty mechanically inclined, was thinking of buying a starter and just having on hand. Did you do it? any special tools?

@@alecburril3433 I have seen those MVT on the road. Spoke to one of the drivers and he was driving an LT and it was a 2020 I think still using 2x6 drives and super singles. He did say that they have pretty good service dept and that they made sure things were fixed.

Alec, wondering who did your computer work on the truck. I had mine done and I’m not happy with it at all. It doesn’t pull very good at all. Makes 45 pounds of boost sometimes. However I have not removed the EGR valve are the coolers. But they are deleted in the computer. Do you have any advice for me?

I'm not a fan of half ass deletes. Take the stuff off and put the block off plates in. I've personally made 60 psi of boost but reached the limit of the fuel system. But it still pulls very well. 3k calibrations done the tuning. I'm happy with it. It won't out pull the big dogs but will pull a 6% grade at 37 mph at 80k lbs. You could have a bad delete file. Or issues with the waste gate actuator/turbo. Any codes?

@@alecburril3433 not pulling any codes. The oil temperature is running about 210° on an average water about 180 to 200. I don’t know if he reprogrammed the timing or not. But I have a lot of money in this delete like $5100 with the exhaust changes so far.

@@paulconner3449 oil temp vs out side temp? On a hard pull I see 245 oil temp. 190-205 on the flat depending on outside temp. For 5 grand that truck should run awesome. I spent 2100 on the tuning and maybe another 1000 on the rest. What is your torque set at?

Still rolling strong. Currently at 908,000 miles. Did the oil cooler recently due to an oil leak. Runs down the road every day

I need some advice. Guy doing the ECM tune says that he does not recommend bumping the horsepower up to 515 because there will be problems with the head in the future. What do you think?

Anything you have to buy from international will be expensive. The engine is good, the emissions are very problematic. Delete the emissions and make that money

Thats pretty vague, are you getting turbo boost? Is the check engine light on? Running rough?

@@alecburril3433 yes, check engine light on for low boost pressure, I don’t have boost , engine noise is rough, I feel like the engine is chocked, and when I accelerate .. the big hose between the the charger cooler and intake manifold gets strangle, I replaced it with brand new hose still same problem, I checked the turbo charger cooler if it’s blocked but its not!

@@shdadedam7355 ok, that helps, I can point you to a few things to check. 1st is the turbo waste gate actuator. Unhook the air line to it and plug the line and test drive to see if that helps. Next is the butterfly valve at the intake, ( driver side if the engine ) 2 torx head screws. Since you're deleted just remove the plate. Lastly check the exhaust back pressure valve. It is behind the turbos and says pacbrake on it. If that is turning on it will also chock out the engine. Let me know
